Sitting in this room felt so familiar in many ways. It had a warm aura that could be considered as good as a home away from home. To say the least, you were comfortable here. Sitting on this bed as you sure you had done many times before, you curiously observed your surroundings. The desk to the side was well kept and tidy; nothing seemed disorderly or out of place. Although, it had that nice touch of childhood innocence with his old figurine collection located on a shelf. You could tell he took care of himself well, and yet there were still so many questions you still had.
With a sigh, he brought over the box of memorabilia and placed it in the space between your bodies. You couldn't exactly figure him out. On one hand he seemed nothing but sardonic, but he was human after all. Surely there was something more to him.
"Here's all I could find...do any of these look familiar?"
Gently, your hand lifted each photograph to your face, carefully scanning each one for the smallest of details. In each picture, you saw yourself with this short brown-ish haired guy, smiling like you had no care in the world. He, on the other hand, always wore the same smiling expression in every picture.
His wide smile that extends to his cheeks , his white pearly teeth perfectly aligned ; surely a smile that represents a blooming flower
"So...this was us?"
"Yeah."
"Hm...,"
He took a moment to analyze you, and he probably had you all figured out before you even knew it. From what you had heard, he was good at that sort of thing.
"What, does something seem wrong or can you not see it with your own two eyes? They're pictures, what more do you need?"
Despondency took a hold of him as he desperately tried to look for the right answer . He remembered the way your eyes always seemed so sympathetic when he felt like hating himself. Truly, you were an angel in disguise to him, and for that he was eternally grateful. Exhaling sharply, he dared to look you in the eyes as he responded.
"I know it's impossible and illogical to feel something for someone you can't even remember, but we always had this...unspoken contentment between us. You could be a dumbass at times, but you always made me happy. You could tell that even without seeing me smile. Does any of that make sense?"
"Um...yeah, actually. I think so."
And there it was, one of your warm smiles had returned to him once again. For the first time since the accident, he was able to witness the one thing in this world that could make his heart swell like he was falling in love all over again. Little by little, he could sense you were returning to him.
"Well, take the box with you to help you remember. Do you know where your house is?"
"Yeah, I actually know it's across the street! Locations have been surprisingly easy for me."
"Good. Well, I'll see you tomorrow then. Don't be stupid and hurt yourself again."
With a rolling of the eyes, you proceeded to show your way out the bedroom door. However, before he could watch you go, he couldn't help but call out to you just once more.
"Hey."
"Hm? What is it George?"
"remember me soon, okay?"
And once again, he cherished the smile on your face more than any riches found on this earth.
"Of course."
