It only took a glance, eye colours clashing together, to feel a heart skip a beat.
It started with a glance. Both of you hadn't known it yet but it was the spark that started the fire. Freshly out of junior high and planning on starting fresh in senior high, two people planned to forget and leave all behind the angst, tears and heartbreak.
The distance between the two of you hadn't change until the middle of the year. You were three doors down from his. And it is inevitable that both of you will see each other loitering around the long hallway with your significant group of friends accompanying both of you.
He was standing by the door of his classroom when the fateful day happened. One of his friends, the one who seemed to be always be louder than someone should be, was talking rapidly towards the boy who was showing is everyday stoic expression. You don't really know if he was actually listening to his companion but you didn't bring yourself to care.
You were walking towards their direction, planning on visiting the library during your remaining time during lunch, when he suddenly looked up. It hadn't really been like a cliché scene where time slowed down as [eye colour] clashed with dark green tourmaline eyes. No, it was quicker than you realized and one would think that it might have not happened at all.
There were two innocent first years, one glancing to the other and one pretending that their heart hadn't missed a beat, their destinies already intertwined with a single glance.
It only took a nod of recognition to feel the heat rush up to the cheeks.
The distance between the two of you lessened into just a few seats away. You were slightly running late that day, cursing the world for the reasons why. Thankfully, you had reached the room without the teacher in sight and one of your friends saved a seat right beside them.
You looked like you were about to cry in relief on your best friend's shoulder, ready to apologize for making them wait for so long when your gaze was lured towards the window. The dark haired boy with familiar green hues were nonchalantly talking to the boy with blonde-ish hair when his eyes suddenly met your for the first time that day.
Blinking a few times, thinking why he was in the same classroom as you before it dawned you that you might have to interact with the boy who doesn't do anything but look at you and you are already in a mess, your heart always missing a beat on the process.
With a subtle tilt of his head when he recognized you, you watched as he had completely ignored the boy beside him and gave you a nod. Heat rushing up to your cheeks, you looked away and quickly turned around and sat on your desk, flustered.
"[Name], are you okay?" your best friend asked when they caught sight of you.
Turning even redder than before, you briskly nodded your head.
It only took a stuttered greeting to change everything. It only took a smile to feel butterflies flutter.
Meeting half way, with your notes tucked in your arms and against your chest, you bit your lip. Two weeks, you have to spend two weeks with him for a project and you don't really know what got you flustered. Why the hell are you even flustered when you are around him though?
But you knew though. Deny as you might, you know that you found the boy in front of you attractive.
"H-hello Sapnap," you shyly spoke up, feet shuffling with nervousness.
He smiled brightly, he took every breath away from you. He looked even more attractive when he smiles. And seeing him give you a smile, you knew that he might be the death of you someday .
"Hello, [Name]"─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
It only took one confession for everything to start.
"I like you, is that too hard to believe?"
Giggles filled the empty room as you watched the boy with dark hair stare at you with disbelief. A year had passed before he had the courage to tell you what he really feels and you just giggled at him.
Seeing his expression made your giggles turn into full blown laughter. You heard the taller boy let out a sigh and patted your head with his hand. "You have to calm down, [name]"
"I'm sorry. It is just that, I never thought that you felt the same and I..." you paused and looked up to him, offering him a soft smile. "...and I am so happy to hear those words."
It only took a name being uttered to become their anchor.
"Sapnap!" You called out, grabbing his attention and a few others. Seeing him clearly exhausted up close made your heart clench for the boy. Offering him a smile, you said, "Don't worry. You'll get through this. Every defence has holes. It will never be perfect."
It only took a foamy moustache to fall in love.
He watched you blink and sat frozen on your seat as he reached out and wiped the remaining foam from the corner of your lips, his thumbs brushing lightly against your skin. His touch is so feather light that you can barely feel his skin against yours.
Snuggled on the warm armchair and light atmosphere of the café to offer, he watched you happily drink off to your hot [favourite drink], leaving a foamy moustache behind. Seeing your eyes bright with contentment and the little foam just above your lips, made his heart skip a beat and his breathe knocked out of his chest.
Warmth had surrounded him as he continued to look at you, realizing that he might have fallen for you. Deeply.
And that scared him. A lot.
It only took a question for a world to crumble down.
"Are you avoiding me?"
He looked away, confirming what you feared.
It only took a single phrase to mend it all.
The walls, he noticed, started to close in as he tried to even out his heavy breathing. He had searched you around the campus and he is failing miserably. It seemed that you already left the school, left him.
Calculating everything and the places where you might be, he ignored how his chest is slowly tightening in anguish and starting to hollow with the underlying pain.
The dark haired male, still wearing his school uniform, raced towards the gates of the school, hoping that he still had time and he will be able to stop you from leaving without resolving anything. Taking his height as an advantage, he looked around to spot a familiar [hair colour] around the crowded students that are loitering around the entrance of the school.
When fear started to creep in, and his mind whispering that he was already too late and that he should already give up for the day, he spotted you among the crowd, you were just a few feet away from the gates.
Without thinking, he dashed towards your direction, not caring about bumping into anyone. All he had cared about is reaching you and telling you what he wanted to say to you for weeks. With your back facing his, he didn't stop until he pulled you back against his hard chest, his arms slipping around your waist and nose buried deep on your hair.
"I love you."
He whispered after a pause, tightening his grip around you. You stood there, not believing every word that rolled out of his tongue. "I'm sorry if I came off like I was intentionally avoiding you," he mumbled before turning her around.
"I wasn't really. I just didn't know how to tell you what I really feel."
A watery laugh had only been your reply as you wrapped your arms around his neck, bringing her closer to you.
With their destinies intertwined, Fate leaned back and smiled.
"And to think it only started with a glance."─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
