April always was a beautiful month to Niki. The way the cherry blossoms danced on the branches of trees through a gentle breeze; the breeze pushing the cherry blossoms around and allowing them to dance a jovial dance of springtime. The way the clouds pushed their way around the skies and painted a thousand different pictures of the skies as they transitioned from candyfloss pinks to cornflower blues all the way into the caliginous darkness that seeped into the day and switched it to night.
A thousand different skies passed by in a day, and in a month such a number brought its way into the millions. Such beauteous views of tranquility that it was easy for her to fall into the easeful grasp of peace and allow the calamities of life to pass by her as though they were nothing more than a temperamental stream of riveting chaos against a serene embankment.
She found solace beneath such a cherry tree, on such a day wherein the skies looked so ethereal not even the most renowned, illustrious of artists could depict such beauty onto a canvas or through the medium of prose nor any other sort of artistic style.
The irenic and yet ephemeral setting of a spring evening was one of the most appealing things in the world according to Niki
She rested her head against the trunk of the tree lazily; a half-grin spread across her face as she gazed out at the open skies above her. At the stars and constellations that created an entire galaxy that danced above her.
Her gaze drifted back to the book resting on her lap, an amalgamation of words tumbled around her head, banging on the walls of her mind and begging to be poured out onto the pages below. Each word whispering a different variation of a promise to lose her in a world in which such beauty as the one before her lasted an eternity.
Yet a sound distracted her still. Dragging her away from the book and to the present day. To the world around her that was full of beauty on such an evening as this was. The rustle of grass beneath shoes and the graceful thud of someone sitting themselves down within her vicinity; the sound of fingers rifling through the pages of a book as they found their place and Niki felt intrigue prick the back of her head as she inconspicuously eyed her surroundings.
Her eyes flitted to a figure near herself; head bent and half-obscured by a sketchpad that lay on their knees.
She didn't mean to swear - honest. But when you looked up and gazed wistfully at the stars, a calculating gaze being reflected in the youth of the night as the first stars emerged from their beds. Awe and wonder flecking your eyes as you sat, committing each star to memory, she couldn't help but be mesmerised. Encaptured by the enrapturing charm you emanated, she couldn't take her eyes off you.
Until your eyes flitted to her; your stare matching her own.
her eyes instantaneously dropped to her notebook. She could feel the amused rouge begin to colour the pallor of her face; painting watercolour reds over the pastiness of her skin tone that a winter's sickness had wrought upon her.
She lifted her pen as she stared at the page, but for once, she couldn't bring herself to write about the ebullience that nature heaped upon her. No, a more quaint beauty had graced her sight.
A beauty that, for the time being, took priority over the early evening skies. For what were a few twinkling stars when compared with an entire galaxy of effulgent supernovae trapped within a single eye?
