I washed up, getting ready for school, putting on black leggings, a white sweatshirt, and brown booties, with a black knitted infinity scarf. I quickly put on my daily makeup, mostly foundation for the hickey. Mascara, Eyeliner, Lip Balm, Blush, Contour, and Highlighter. Leo texted me to meet him outside.

"Mila, breakfast!" My mom called, she only makes breakfast, if she wakes up early. She works as a 2nd grade teacher. She doesn't get paid much, but we survive. Marie works with the school board.

"I'll be right there, mom." I got my school bag, and went into the kitchen. I put my bag on the dining chair. My mom was drinking a cup of coffee.

"How has the 2nd graders been? Tougher than you thought?" I asked, grabbing a plate of pancakes. I poured syrup on top.

"Yes, but I don't mind." My mom said. "What I want to know is, who gave you that hickey? You think I don't know you came back when I came back? You never sleep before 9:30pm, unless you're really tired. And you wouldn't have went to babysit, if you were tired. So spill, Simone Camila Miller!" My mom chuckled.

I almost choked on my food. I pointed upstairs. I told her everything since yesterday morning, after she left for work.

"Yes! Marie owes me $30!" MY mom cheered. "I knew you guys would make a move on each other. I'm not surprised."

That made me choke again. "You guys betted on us?"

"Yeah, hahah. Can I tell Marie?" My mom asked me.

"Yeah, if you want. How'd you know about the hickey, though?"

My mom took a sip of coffee. "I have my ways. I'm just kidding. I checked on you later, and you rolled over. Caught!" She was almost exactly like a teenager.

I shook my head. "You're crazy, mom" I finished my breakfast, and washed the dishes. I fixed my hair, and grabbed my bag. "Bye, mom. Love you."

"Bye, honey. Next time, be more secretive about it. You're terrible!" She laughed, and kissed me on forehead.

I went out the door, and Leo was waiting outside, on the front steps of the apartment, texting on his phone.

"Took you long enough. You're slower than my grandma." Leo stood up, and started walking. "You could've texted back, you know that?"

I walked beside him. "I ate breakfast, and she started to talk to me about how she had bet Marie, $30, that we would make a move on each other."

"How did that come up over breakfast?" He asked, confused.

"She asked me about the hickey. Apparently, I rolled in bed, and she checked up on me, and she saw it. She asked who, and yeah."

"Wow, okay then. Is it really visible?" Leo asked.

"Yeah, I had to use a lot of foundation, and powder. But I'm wearing a scarf, so that's easier. You spent like 100 hours on it, sucking the shit outta me."

"Sorry." He said, shyly.

"It's fine, I'm sorry I'm irresistable." I joked.

"Yeah, okay, Simone." He said as we reached the school doors. "I'll walk you to your locker, because I'm nice, and you would want to be seen with someone as hot as me."

"Stop lying to yourself, boy. Keep telling yourself that, until it comes true."

"It is true." He walked me to my locker. "Bye, Simone. I'll see you in class."

"Okay, idiot." I hugged him, and turned to Adelaine.

"Update, please." Adelaine said, leaning against the lockers.
