It was the week, after my mom had returned from the teacher conference. I had gotten a belly piercing, added to my ear piercings. My mom lets me get any piercings, as long as I'd pay for it. A new boy had started going to our school. It was during lunch, on Friday, that I had noticed him.
"Oh my god, he's so cute!" I squealed.
"I'm standing right next to you, Simone." Leo said, looking at me.
"I thought you were Adelaine. Whoops? Boy, you can't compete." I said. Adelaine had went to get lunch with the guys, and the rest of the girls. Leo got up and went back to his table. He sat alone at the table. I walked over to him, and sat across from him. He ignored me. I looked at him. He stared down at the table. I got up, and went back to my table. The girls returned, and ate their lunch.
"There's a party at mine, tonight. It's for the new guy, and end of the term. You guys coming?" Bethany asked.
"Oh my god, he's so cute." Destiny said.
"He really is." Adelaine added.
"What party? I want to go." Chrissie said.
"A welcome party for him. But it was originally to celebrate the end of the term." Bethany said. "So you in?" We all agreed. School let out, and we all got ready for the party, early. I went home, took a shower and changed into flower printed joggers and a strapless black plunged crop top. I slipped on black sandals. I did my makeup, with a plum lipstick, and combed my hair. I put on a statement necklace, my big silver hoop earrings, a ring with a triangular shape on it and a mid ring on my index finger. Those rings were on my right hand, on my left I had my promise ring, that my grandparents gave me. I went into the kitchen, where my mom was paying bills. She looked up, as I entered.
"Lots of parties this year. Mila, you look beautiful. You're growing up." She smiled.
"Remember when I was 10, you said I could dye my full head a different color, when I got to high school?" I said.
"Yeah..?" She raised her eyebrow.
"I'm in high school!" I cheered.
"Fine, but I'm coming along." She said, grabbing her purse.
"Don't worry, I just want ombré, or just highlights. Yes?" I chuckled.
"If you're dying your hair, so will I." We got to the salon, and in less than two hours, my mom's hair was light brown, and mine was my natural color, dark brown, with light brown highlights. The hair stylist also curled my hair, for the party. It costed $30 in total. We also went to the nail salon, I got my nails painted black, with a bow on my ring fingernails. My mom got hers in a maroon color. I also went to get a nose piercing. Then we walked back home.
"You look gorgeous!" I said. "People will wonder why you don't have a boyfriend chasing you."
"Oh, Mila. I wish." She chuckled. "They'll think how lucky Leo is, when they see you. Watch, at your party, you'll have most grand entrance in history."
I laughed. "I'll see you later, mom. Love you." I kissed her on the cheek.
"Marie needs you to watch Frankie. Go say hi and then come back." My mom said. I got my phone, and money, put it in the pockets of my pants, and walked to Bethany's. I knocked on the front door. Phil answered, and told me that the guys and the girls were in the backyard. He let me go through the house, instead of going all around. They were all hanging around on the patio, dressed up. I walked onto the back porch. Bethany ran up to hug me, and she kissed me on the cheek.
"You're late, even though the party isn't until later, but you look gorgeous, so you're forgiven. Soda?" Bethany asked. I shook my head.
"I'm coming back later." I said, going around to hug them.
