The rest of the week was normal. After school I would go to the diner for my shift. On Friday, after school, everyone came to the diner for some food. I put my stuff down, and put on my black waist apron. The guys sat in a booth, and the girls sat in another booth. Destiny, and Jasper were the only ones not there. I took care of two other tables, and then went back to them to take their order.
"What would you like to order?" I asked the girls. They all told me their order. I wrote it down on the writing pad. I took the boys' orders. Then I went behind the counter and put the papers in the orders place. I poured the drinks for them, and brought it over in a tray.
"You're becoming a pro at this." Hector said. I rolled my eyes.
"I'm tired. I'm the only one working this shift." I said, just as the door opened, and my birth dad entered with his family.
"Shit." I muttered. I gave everyone their drinks, then I led my birth dad and his family to a booth. I put down menus for them. I went behind the counter to get the orders that were already done. I waited on the other tables, then went back to take their order. I kept working, until one of the other employees arrived.
"Camila, you can go on your break." Jasper said.
"Where have you been?" I asked him.
"With Destiny." He answered, putting on his waist apron.
"Where's everyone else? I'm struggling here." I said, as I gave the guys and the girls their checks.
"Go on your break. They don't have shifts today, we're closing early." He said, as he waited on a table.
"Leave your money and then deuces." I said to the guys and the girls.
"Disrespectful, Mila. You're the waiter, be polite." Chrissie said.
"Suck my ass." I said.
"Yooo, is the manager here? I would like to report her!" Crissie yelled. We all started cracking up. I turned to look at Jasper. He tried to hold in his laugh, as he delivered people their meals.
"Fine, stay until we close up." I said.
"Psych. I'm leaving." Crissie said. "I'm kidding. Are we leaving?"
"When are you closing up?" Mike asked.
"In half an hour." Jasper called.
"We'll stay." Bethany said.
"Stay or leave, yall still paying." I said. I cleaned up the other tables, and wiped them down. People finished eating and started leaving. My birth dad and his family were the last ones to finish eating, I gave them their check, and cashed it in the register.
"Thank you, Simone." My birth dad said.
"No problem." I smiled. I looked down at his daughter. "What's your name?" I bent down to talk to her.
"Phoebe." She said, softly.
"That's a beautiful name." I said. I stood up, straight. I wiped the table, and cleared the plates.
"Bye, Simone." My birth dad said.
"Was that the daughter you were talking about?" The woman beside him asked. His wife. He nodded.
"Thank you." His wife said. I nodded.
"You're welcome." I smiled. They left the diner, and I put the closed sign up. I cleaned up, and got ready to close up. I took off my apron, and got my stuff. All the cooks went home.
"Where we going now?" Bethany asked.
"Don't look at me." I said. "Jasper, is the kitchen clear?" I called to him. He came out from the kitchen.
