Marie had returned, but my mom had to stay a few extra days. On Monday morning, I was waiting for Leo, but he never came, and I was late. I slowly walked to school. When I got there, it was already first period. I went to the office for a pass and then to my locker. I got my binders for Math, and walked into the class. I gave the teacher the pass and went to sit in the back. I sat and was too tired and angry to listen. Leo sat on the other side of the room, laughing with Bethany and her friends, and Jacob.
"Mila, psst!" Adelaine whispered. I ignored her, and she knew not to bother me.
The first half of the day went by slowly. At lunch, I bought a soda and sat at our regular table.
Crissie sat across from me, "Mila! What's up with you?"
"All this shit. My mom isn't coming home for another few days. Leo disappeared, and never came this morning, so I was late. I was going to skip school. Also, he's slobbering over Bethany."
"Boyfriend troubles." Crissie said. "Speaking of the devil, look over there." She pointed to the Bethany's table by the window. Leo was against the wall, with Bethany hovering over him. I turned away.
"They can suck my ass." I sighed.
"You'll find another boy or man soon." Destiny says, taking a large bite of her sandwich.
"Hipp." Crissie grins. "To kill the mood, here they come."
"Wow, squad goals." Adelaine chuckles, as Bethany's friends, and Bethany, tagging Leo along, arrives at the table.
"More like couple goals. Bethany and Leo. Right?" Bethany's best friend, Stephanie says.
"Yeah, okay. What do you want?" Destiny questions.
"Not you. Camila, jealous?" Bethany says.
"Not a bit. You guys can suck each other's ass all you want, but don't include me in this. It's not a threesome kind of thing." I roll my eyes.
Leo touches my shoulder, "It's nothing, Simone. Bethany and I are not dating."
"Don't touch her, babe." Bethany says. "Don't try winning him back, he'll always choose me over you. I have the skills to win boys over, all the time!"
"Are you trying to call yourself smart, Bethany?" Adelaine chuckles. By that moment, the whole cafeteria was silent, listening to this argument.
"Not trying, I am smart!" Bethany grins.
"Yeah, okay. The smartest thing that ever came out of your mouth was a dick. And I hope you both learn from your parents' mistakes, use birth control." I smirked. Everyone tried so hard not to laugh.
The principal had been standing at the front of the cafeteria. "Simone Miller, Bethany Collins, and Leo Foster. Report to my office!"
We walked to his office and waited outside. He called us in one at a time. Leo was first. Bethany glared at me.
"Don't try to get back with him," she said, looking deep into my eyes.
I rolled my eyes. "You can have him all you want. We just wouldn't want a mini Bethany running around, would we?"
She chuckled. "Whatever." Leo came out and Bethany was called in.
"Simone, me and Bethany aren't dating." Leo walked up to me. I ignored him.
"I'm best friends with Jacob, and his dad is married to Bethany's mom. I was at Jacob's house last night, and then she spiked my drink, and I don't know what happened after that. Simone, you know I would never hurt you." He said, just as Bethany came out, and I was called in. I walked inside, and was directed to sit down.
