The rest of the week was a blur. My mom came back late Sunday night, when I was already asleep. On Monday morning, I washed up, getting ready for school. I changed into tight ripped light washed skinny jeans, and a strapless tribal print crop top. I put my hair down, and in result, had beach waves. I threw on a blue zip up sweater, and nude flats. I got my school bag and I walked to school. I went to my locker and put my sweater into the locker, got my folder and notebook. Leo was already at his locker, across the hall, with Jacob, and his friends. He took a quick glance at me, and turned back."Mila! Mila!" I heard my name. I turned to look, and Jesse was coming towards me. He arrived next to me, and I gave him a hug. Jesse is a senior, and my mom was best friends with his mom, before she died.
"What's up?" I asked.
"Nothing, I need to tell you something."
"I haven't seen you in a while."
"My dad got a job, cross country, and we're moving." He was looking glum.
"That's great to here!" I cheered.
"We're moving tomorrow. Today is my last day." He said.
"It can't be. Why'd you tell me on the last day?" I questioned.
"You were so caught up with all your boyfriend trouble, I didn't want to add."
"How'd you know about my troubles?"
"The cafeteria? It was dead silent, when you spoke. I have lunch with you, remember?" He looked at me.
"Yeah, but we broke up, so can I spend the last day with you?" I leaned against my locker.
"Sure, come by my table during lunch. I sit at the table behind Leo's. Is that fine?" He asked.
"It'll be alright." I said, giving him a hug. He kissed me on the cheek, and we both went to homeroom. I was the last one to walk into homeroom. I sat down in my seat, and Adelaine turned around.
"Where were you?" She asked.
"At my locker, talking to Jesse. Why?"
"Nothing, just wondering. I overheard Leo saying that you moved on this morning."
She glanced over to check that he wasn't listening."I'm not dating Jesse. He kissed me on the cheek, and hugged me. That's all."
Adelaine waited for more."He's leaving tomorrow. Today is his last day. I give him hugs all the time. The kiss was just because of his last day."
"Oh, okay." Adelaine smiled.
"It doesn't matter if I move on, we broke up. He obviously still has feelings for Bethany, and I'm his rebound, when he gets rejected. But he can find someone else to do it." I say, as the teacher walks in. The first half of the day, Adelaine kept passing notes to me in class, that said 'cheater.' I put them all in a little plastic bag, that was at least half full by lunch. At lunch, I told Adelaine I'd meet her at our table. I went to Jesse's table, and sat down next to him.
"Hey." He said.
"Hey. I have to get back to my table, and I have to get lunch." I said.
"That's cool. Just text me later, and we'll meet up?" He said.
"Sure." I said, giving him a kiss on the cheek. Then I got up and left. I went to buy lunch, seeing the line was shorter than the free lunch. I bought a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and a bag of chips. I walked over to the table, and sat down.
"You look adorable, Mila!" Desi said.
"Thank you, Desi." I said.
"So what's with your boyfriend drama?" Crissie asked. We talked about Leo and I for the rest of lunch. The rest of the day went by. Bethany came up to me at the last bell.
"Moving on, already?" She smirked.
"What are you talking about?"
"Jesse? Leo said you two were dating."
"We're not dating. If Leo has something on his mind, he can say it to my face. But don't go around spreading rumors about me." I walked to my locker. Bethany chased after me.
"Wait, Camila. Leo told me about you getting expelled." She put her hand on my shoulder.
"Why does he keep talking to you about me? Whatever he said, just ignore it."
"Well, I've always hated that principal, who has this huge crush on my mom. But I want to help you prevent yourself from getting expelled."
"Why? So I can be nice to you?"
"No, for your own good. I'm different now, Camila. I don't want Leo, I'm not dating Hector, I'm not dating anyone. I don't want someone to be expelled because of me. I promise you, I'm not coming after you, that was for my own amusement, but honestly, you're way better than me. You always fight back, and I don't have the nerve to do that."
"Your point is?" I looked at her, after putting my things in my locker, and grabbing my sweater. I closed my locker.
"I want us to be friends." She said.
"I never hold a grudge, so one day, and I'll see how it goes. Did Leo tell you that he wasn't going to agree with me, about being nice to you? But I said I would be nice to you?" I questioned, and she shook her head.
"That's what I thought." I said.
"Tomorrow after school. You and me?"
"Sure, just text me." I smiled. "If you're doing some undercover thing, don't be certain that I won't come into your house, and shave your head off."
"I'm not, I swear. Ask Leo, he told me to do this. He already threatened me."
She pointed across the hall, to Leo. I ignored her, and went home. My mom had taken the day off to recover from jet lag. She was rolled up, sleeping on the couch. I went past her, into my room. I took a quick shower, and changed into a white t-shirt, and gray skinny jeans, with white sneakers. I texted Jesse to meet at the frozen yogurt place in an hour."Mila! Come down here, I made an early dinner." My mom called.
"Coming." I said, and walked into the kitchen. My mom was eating at the table. A seat was already set for me. I took a seat and started eating.
"How you been the past week? Marie said a lot was going on for you."
"Nothing really. I broke up with Leo. Bethany said he told her to be nice to me, to prevent me getting expelled. Remember Jesse? He's moving tomorrow, and I'm meeting him later."
"Aww, baby. You broke up with him? What happened?"
"He has feelings for Bethany, I don't even know. I'm over it." I sighed.
"Isn't Bethany the one who got you suspended? I wanna see her parents!"
"It's fine, mom. I'll see if she's actually going to change. She's kind hearted inside, I just know it. If not, well she lives in the bigger houses."
"Now did you say Jesse is moving? Why?"
"His father got a job cross country."
"Good for him! Tell him I said hey. I miss Georgia." My mom sighed. Georgia was her bestfriend, and Jesse's mother.
"Me too. Anyway, you okay by yourself? I'm meeting Jesse at the froyo place. Call me if you need anything." I said, getting up to get my blue sweater from earlier, and my brown cross-shoulder bag. I walked to the location and got a booth. Jesse came in seconds later. We hung out for a while until we decided to go. He walked me home, and talked to my mom. Around 9:30pm, he had to leave. I wasn't going to say goodbye, he had to come back to visit, at least. On Tuesday night, Bethany came over and we watched tv. She wasn't up to anything suspicious, but I kept an eye out, ya know, just in case.
