Why didn't I ask?

I was staring at a beautiful amethyst amulet, when i heard my name being called

"Xiara!"

I turned around and saw Kyle heading to me

"Hey!" I greeted him

"So, why does a pretty girl like you stands here alone in the mall?" he asks

I blushed at his compliment, "I'm-"

"Not very punctual is he?" he remarks before I even finish

"Who?" I ask out of confusion

"Your date?, you know the one who made you wait for him"

I laughed. And he stares at me confused

"Why? Did I say something funny?" he asks me

"No, it's just that I don't have a date. I'm just hanging out here because it's so boring at home."

"so i assume that your single?" he asks me.

"Yes, but I don't do relationships" I clarified

"Why?" he asks

"Uh, because relationship is not my priority, I tend to lose my focus in other things when I do relationships" I explained

"Oh"

"So what are you doing here?" I returned the question at him to cut out the tension out.

"Me? I'm here to help accompany girls who are single" he told me

"Seriously? you want to go with me?" I ask

"Yeah that's why I'm here to help and serve single girls"

I started to realize lately people had been hitchhiking with my schedule. Strange isn't it how life can change in just a month.

I gazed at this stranger beside me and felt a connection with him. It's like I had known him all this time, but never knew. Weird right?

Ugh Whatever

My I mean our first stop was the department store.

I was searching for a crop top and a denim short. While Kyle hangs around with me I can't help being amazed by Kyle's patience with shopping, usually guys hate going shopping with their girlfriends but I'm not saying that I'm Kyle's girlfriend It's just the point is guys hate shopping period

After I had bought the things I ought to buy, we pass by that store again and the amethyst amulet was nowhere to be found, I groaned

"Why?" Kyle asks

"It's just, there's a gorgeous amulet here just a while ago, and now it's gone." I whimpered

"How about I treat you to some strawberry sundae to raise up your mood? " he asks me

"I guess"

We climb up the escalator to the food court at the third floor.

He orders a strawberry ice cream sundae for me and a chocolate ice cream sundae for him.

"Thanks" I told him when the orders arrived.

"Hey Xia?" He asks me

" Hmm?"

"Can you wait for me here just a second?" he asks

"Oh, Alright" I replied, Am I that boring to chase him away?

So he left me here sitting at the middle of the food court all alone eating a half melted sundae really slowly so I can stall time.

A little while after I decided to just play games in my phone and leave my sundae alone.

It's been freaking 30 minutes since he left I wonder where is he?

I wanted to text him but I don't know his number.

People have been arriving at the food court and I'm sure that sooner or later I'll be kicked out of this food court.

I was about to leave the food court when I saw him running towards me.

"Hey!" he called me as he came into a hearing distance.

"Hi"

"So... um I saw you staring at an amulet a while ago and um I thought you might like it so I uh bought it." he explained at me when he hand out a paper bag at me.

I hurriedly open the paper bag and saw the exact amulet I've been eyeing this past days.

"Oh my gosh. It's really the amulet " I softly whisper to myself

"Y-you shouldn't have bought this, I-It cost a lot of money!" I told him, In case you didn't know this amulet is expensive that's why I can't buy it.

"Nah. It's okay. It wasn't that much actually."

I look at him with disbelief, did he expect me to be fooled by his act?

"No, Kyle I can't accept this, it's too much." I told him as I push the paper bag which held the amulet towards his chest but not in a 'shove' kind of thingy, but a gentle push

"No, it's really fine Xia, It is mine. I bought it when I was 14, it was for a girl I love, but she got in an accident and I never got the chance to give it to her. So right now, I'm giving it to you" he explained

I thought over and over again, If he bought that 3 years ago, why was it displayed at the jewellery store for about a year now?

I finally caved in but told him that if he finds that girl he loves, he can get the amulet back. He agreed, and told me, The girl she loves isn't coming back, so I can keep it.

That made me sleep a sleepless night, He was so sad telling me about that girl, I envy that girl, despite of her unknown destination, Kyle still loves her.

That made me wonder, Why didn't I ask him, who's she?
