I couldn't sleep at all the whole night. The past week had flew by and I almost forgot that today was really the end of it all. I tried not to think much about it because I knew once I sat alone with my thoughts, I would never recover. I wanted to occupy my mind with all the excitement that my last day had in store. Yunho promised me the perfect date, and I expected nothing less of him to deliver.
I sat up and watched the sunrise from outside my window. It was the last sunrise I'd ever see. But, at least I had someone next to me to keep me company for once.
"Aera? You're up early," Yunho said, half asleep.
"I don't want to waste any minutes today. I'll never get them back."
Suddenly, Yunho sat up from his spot and held onto me.
"Then, what are we waiting for?" he whispered into my ear before giving me a small kiss on the cheek. We then both quickly got out of bed to get ready.
"Don't forget to wear the watch," he reminded.
"I wish you'd wear it." I pouted.
"I wish I could too."
After we were finished, he grabbed my hand and led me outside.
"Are you ready?" he smiled.
"As ready as I'll ever be."
When we got on the bus, people stared as I held onto him. Was it too abnormal to show affection like this? Even so, I didn't really care. For me, it was just us in the entire world.
"Where are we going?" I asked. He didn't respond. Instead, he looked down and smiled.
Once the bus stopped, he dragged me back outside to walk.
"What are we doing?" I questioned again.
"It's a surprise!" he responded. We kept walking until we reached an art supply store.
"Grab some painting supplies," he commanded. I did as I was told and once we bought everything, we headed to the park. When we got there, we found a shaded area on the grass and sat down on the blanket Yunho brought.
"Let's paint a portrait of each other," he excitedly suggested.
"That's a cute idea." I smiled. We laid on our stomachs and got to work with our faces close enough to each other where we could draw out the details. Every glance we took we kept smiling, embarrassed to make direct eye contact.
"I'm done!" I shouted once I finished my painting. I managed to draw an exact replica of his face. When I looked over to his, I noticed his canvas was blank.
"I thought you were the one who wanted to paint," I said, disappointed in what I saw.
"Wow, that's incredible," he replied, completely disregarding how upset I was. He carefully grabbed mine and started to admire my work.
"Why is yours blank?"
"Well, how do you want me to portray you?"
"Just forget it," I spat.
It took me a couple hours to paint and I was extremely irritated that it was all one-sided. But, no more time could be wasted on petty arguments.
"What should we do next?" I asked, packing all our things into the bag we bought them in.
"We should go get you some food. We'll have the biggest feast possible!" he suggested.
"Should we get something all you can eat then?"
"Lead the way then, beautiful."
I suddenly became flustered by his compliment. Where did that come from?
