"Bye, Mum!"

Mikey, my eldest, dashed off down Platform 9 3/4 to board the Hogwarts Express as quickly as humanly possible.

"Michael Declyn Malfoy! Get back here this instant!" I cried after him, watching as he stopped and slowly turned around before stomping back to his family.

"But I want to get my favorite compartment on the train," he whined. I ruffled his mound of sandy blond hair.

"Don't worry, I'm sure you'll still be able to claim it. But I want you to say hello to everyone before you run off to start your third year. The Potters and Weasleys should be getting here soon."

"Fine."

Mikey pretended to huff, but I could see a hidden grin flash across his face. Harry and Ginny's eldest, James, was the same age as my son, and the two were thick as thieves. They had spent nearly every weekend together over the summer, but they always acted as if they hadn't seen each other in years.

Even though he was named after my father, Michael Malfoy was nearly a carbon copy of my husband. Although his hair was a little darker, Mikey took completely after Draco. He was sharp as a tack with a strong charisma that made him the favorite of most of his teachers, despite his occasional habit of causing mischief with James. While James was a Gryffindor and Mikey was a Slytherin, the inter-house rivalry seemed to mean nothing to them, which made Draco and me very proud.

"Can I at least sit on the train, Mummy, just to see what it looks like?" asked a little voice behind me. I turned to see my younger daughter, Arielle Elizabeth, looking up at me with a puppy dog face. She had my husband's coloring, too, with long blonde hair and deep blue eyes. Even though she was young, only nine years old, it was abundantly clear that she had inherited the extreme intelligence of my sister and mother. Draco and I had said that we wouldn't be surprised if she was sorted into Ravenclaw when her first year arrived. She was also a social butterfly, and I had no doubt that she would quickly befriend students from all houses.

I smiled as Arielle wrapped her arms around my waist and hugged me tightly.

"Please, Mummy? Pleeeeeease?"

"I know two years seems like a long time, my darling, but trust me. You will be starting your first year before you know it."

"But two years IS a long time," she insisted, tugging slightly at my waist as she tried to move us closer to the train.

"Alright, I'll tell you what. We can't go on the train quite yet, but we'll stop for ice cream on the way home."

Arielle stopped tugging at me. "Really?"

"Really."

"OK, deal."

I chuckled— Arielle had inherited my love for food.

"Look, Mummy! They're here!"

Before I could reply, Arielle took off down the platform as she saw Ron and Hermione coming towards us with their children, Rose and Hugo, in tow.

"Hugo!" Arielle cried as she embraced her buddy.

I smiled as my childhood best friends neared. We all looked much the same, although it was undeniable that we had aged. Hermione was wearing a tan pencil skirt and blazer with her brown hair twisted back in a bun. As for Ron, even though his belly was a little bigger and his hair a little thinner, he still had the same sweet, boyish face.

"Hello, you two," I said as I hugged both of them. "Hard to believe another summer has already passed us by. Everything going well at the Ministry, Hermione?"
