After awhile, Harry and I came back down to the common room to get rid of his mysterious potions book together. Hermione and Ron were there as well, and seemed to think it was for the best after they found out what had happened. We all sat there, searching of places where we could put it."You could just put it back in the cupboard where you found it," Ron said.
"And have some other student find it? Great idea, Ron," Hermione scoffed.
"You're right, that was stupid," Ron said.
"How about the Room of Requirement?" Harry said. Both Ron and Hermione nodded. I opened my mouth to say something, then hesitated. I knew that the Room of Requirement would be a great place to hide something, but I was worried that Harry and I would find Malfoy in there and Harry would try to kill him again. Or maybe the other way around. I shuddered.
"Yeah, that sounds good," Ron said. "Make sure you put it where you can't find it again."
"I'll hide it," I said abruptly. "So he can't be tempted." Everyone nodded, thinking that was best. I could feel Harry was still shaking, so I took his hand in mine.
"C'mon, Harry," I said softly. "We'd better go."
Harry and I walked hand in hand to the Room of Requirement. I was getting more nervous with every step. What if we encountered Malfoy? What were we going to do? We approached the giant wooden doors and let ourselves in. As soon as we stepped into the threshold, I stopped dead in my tracks.
"What is it, Audrey?" Harry asked. I blinked my eyes, confused.
"I... I don't know," I said. "I just feel... something." Harry rolled his eyes.
"You feel something? Gee, that narrows it down." I tried to chuckle, but no sound came out. I took a step into the room of requirement, and immediately felt a sense of dread wrap around me. I took a sharp breath in, leaning on the nearest cupboard. Harry ran over to my side.
"Audrey, what is going on?" he cried. I looked back at him, terrified.
"Harry, I don't feel well. I don't like this at all." I felt terrible, like all the happy memories had been drained from my mind.
"Are you unwell? C'mon, let's get you to Madame Pomferey," Harry said, taking my hand.
"No, no," I said. "Not like that. I just... Something is not right. Right when I walked in here, I just had this terrible feeling. I don't know what it is. But something is definitely not right." Harry stopped, and thought. His brow furrowed, arms crossed.
"Well, let's go in farther. I'm sure we can figure it out." I nodded, holding his hand tightly. We began to weave through the piles of forgotten treasures.
"Alright, hand me the book. I'll hide it," I said, holding out my hand. "Close your eyes." Harry reluctantly shut his eyes.
I turned away from him, and began to search for a good hiding place. Eventually, I came upon a dusty bookcase tucked away against the wall. I began to shift the books around to find a nook for the creepy potions book.
As I moved the books, my eyes fell on an Ancient Runes textbook. I breathed in sharply. That was the same textbook Cassady was reading on the train to Hogwarts this year. Memories started flooding back of Cassady, of us as children, her reading and me running around like a crazy child. Us joking together in the summer, talking on the purple couch in the room of requirement when we needed to get away, us walking through the forbidden forest even when we weren't allowed.
I looked away from the book. It was just too much. I hastily shoved Harry's book somewhere in the many shelves, and then turned away. My sister was gone to God knows where. And it was my fault. I was supposed to watch her. Not Dumbledore, not anyone else but me. And I failed her.
