John's POV

   "When are you gonna stop being weird about this?" Alexis sighed, I shifted and held her hand.
   "I'm not trying to be. I'm sorry, Alexis." I sighed, avoiding her gaze. She laid her head on my shoulder and huffed. "Am I making you feel bad?" I asked quietly.
   "No...I just...I don't know. I feel like you're pretending." I frowned at her and she sighed.
   "What do you mean?"
   "You kissed me and you said you liked me. You broke up with Martha to be with me and then I told you that I was trans. Do you not like me anymore?" She looked up at me and I cupped her cheeks, pulling her into a kiss.
   "I like you, Alexis. A lot. I'm just...new to this. I'm afraid of upsetting you." I mumbled, Alexis looked away and sniffed lightly. "Am I upsetting you?"
   "A little bit..."
   "What-...What am I doing? How can I fix it?"
   "You're acting different. You used to treat me like a girl and now you're treating me like a boy."
   "O-Oh-...I didn't know-"
   "John...Maybe we shouldn't have done this." I pulled back and she sighed. "I was right, John. I shouldn't have told you-"
   "Yes, you should've. I'm sorry, Alexis. I'm trying. I'm really fucking trying and I'm sorry if I'm hurting you." I whispered, I pressed a gentle kiss on her lips. "Kick me. Kick me when I get it wrong or upset you. Fix me. Change me. You're my girlfriend now. I want you to be my girlfriend. I like you. Your reproductive system doesn't matter to me. It's what's up here-" I poked her forehead then her chest. "-and in here." Alexis giggled and looked up at me.
   "I'm not gonna change you, John. I like you the way you are." Alexis smiled, placing a hand on my cheek and smiling. "But I'll take the invitation to kick you." She laughed, I chuckled and kissed her.
   "Alright." I laughed.
   "To be completely honest, I'm glad I don't have a uterus. I would rather not be betrayed by my own organs every month." I snorted and pulled her into my arms.
   "Yeah...I get that." I hummed, putting my chin on her head as her back rested against my chest. "Seriously though, are you ok? I didn't mean to hurt you."|
   "Yeah, I'm ok." She paused and turned her head to look up at me. "Be honest with me? Did you or did you not realize I have a dick?"
   "The thought did cross my mind." I sighed. "You've always been a girl to me so I guess I didn't think differently of...that." I muttered, Alexis nodded and sighed.
   "Well...I guess that's not awful." She smiled lightly and flopped back in the bed.
   "Yeah?" I asked, laying down with her.
   "Yeah."
   "Alexis!" I whined over the mic.
   "You're such a baby!" She giggled.
   "Come with me! I don't wanna go alone!" I pouted, we were playing Fortnite and she was over at the Washington's. I begged her to come over but she said she wasn't feeling too well. She had gotten her stitches taken out this morning so I didn't push her. She needs her rest anyway.
   "Oh my god. I'll go with you." I wanted her to come with me to loot some buildings. "Scaredy cat!" She teased.
   "Hey! I'm not a scaredy cat! I just wanna spend some quality time with my g-best friend." I bit my tongue hoping that Laf and Herc wouldn't notice.
   "Nice sa-" Laf started."Non!" Alexis yelped. "Tais-toi! Je t'ai dit de ne rien dire!" I blushed and shifted in my chair. I still can't get over it when she speaks French...or any language. Listen, she's my girlfriend and I do not have a French kink.
   "Nothing!" Alexis and Laf yelped.
   "Nothing, mon cher." Laf sighed, Alexis gasped loudly and started speaking frantic French. They bickered back and forth and I sighed.
   "B-...Alexis?"
   "Yeah?"
   "Chill out." I chuckled.
   "But-" She groaned and huffed. "Fine."
   "When do you start classes? I can give you a ride. I don't want you on the subway."
   "Tomorrow and that would be appreciated." She hummed.
   "Wait, you actually got in?" Herc asked.
   "Yeah! I need to catch up but yeah!" She grinned.
   "That's so fucking cool!" Herc chuckled.
   "Thanks!" She spat something to Laf in French and he sighed.
   "Fine. Uh-...Herc?" He asked timidly.
   "Yeah?"
   "Can we talk in a separate call?"
   "Uh...sure." They left and I smirked.
   "What was all that about, baby?"
   "Laf just admitted he has a crush on Herc and I made him go ask him out."
   "Wow. Look at you go." I chuckled. "Are we still on for dinner?"
   "Yup. I get to pick the place this time!"
   "Alright. I pick you up at six. Ok?"
   "Yeah, that's perfect." She hummed, we looted a building and I listened to Alexis' quiet humming.
   "What are you humming?" I asked quietly, trying not to disturb our peace.
   "Huh? Oh! It's a lullaby my mother used to sing to get me to sleep." She sighed. "I usually hum it when I'm nervous or scared."
   "Are you nervous now?"
   "Yeah...What if I fail?"
   "Fail what?" I frowned.
   "College. What if I can't do this?" She asked timidly. "I-...I learned from books. I taught myself how to read. English isn't my first language. I'm behind. I'm not nearly on the level of-"
   "What makes you think I'm on that level? I went to private school until I was a Freshman in high school. I'm still dumb. There's nothing up here. I got a mediocre SAT score. The only reason I got into King's is because I have money. I have stupid money, Alexis. I don't belong in that stupid school. You're so much smarter than me. I think you'll be fucking great. I think you'll blow your professors out of the water. You're brilliant and you should never ever doubt that, baby." I smiled, I heard Alexis sniff and shifted.
   "Thanks, Jacky." She whimpered.
   "It's all true, baby girl." I hummed, she sniffed again and sighed.
   "You're too good for me." She managed through a shaky breath, I chucked and sighed.
   "I think it's the other way around, babe."
   "Oh, shut up." I sighed and paused in thought for a moment. "I really wanna fucking kiss you."
   "So do I, Jack."
