A/N - ASK QUESTIONS!!! Hehehe
Alexandra's POV
"Careful, the stove's on." I hummed as John looked around.
"Wow...My kitchen's being used." He chuckled.
"It is." I smiled.
"Any chance you can be my roommate?" He chuckled.
"No, silly. Jamie and I could never afford rent." I laughed.
"I never said anything about rent." He shrugged.
"You're not serious, right?"
"I don't know." He shrugged. "I have an extra room."
"Um-..."
"I'm just saying if y'all ever need it...It's here. You don't need to pay rent or anything."
"Thanks, John." I smiled, stirring the noodles and sighing.
"Where'd you learn to cook?"
"Mama. After dad left I was the only one home so she taught me how to cook so I could make myself dinner when she worked late." I hummed.
"Oh...Wow."
"Why don't you know how to cook?"
"Well...My dad isn't the type of person that thinks that men should be in the kitchen and we had people who did that for us." He sighed.
"Aw, you poor baby." I teased, caressing his cheek. He stuck his tongue out at me and I giggled. His phone rang and he sighed lightly. "What?"
"Give me a sec." He answered it and pressed his phone to his ear. "Hey, Mari." I felt my chest tighten and I turned away. I busied myself with cooking and just listened to John talk. "I'm just hanging out with Alexis...What? No. It's the same girl...Why does it matter?...Martha...Yeah, ok. Love you...Bye." He sighed and put his phone in his pocket. He put on a smile and opened the fridge. "We forgot to get soda." He sighed.
"Are you ok?"
"Yeah...I'm fine. I'm gonna go get some soda. Don't burn yourself, ok?"
"I won't." I giggled, John chuckled and grabbed his keys.
"Alright. I'll be back soon." He smiled, heading out. I smiled and sighed. I stared at the noodles in the pot and thought about John's comment earlier. He said my butt was nice. Would he say that if he knew the truth? If he knew I wasn't really a girl. Would he still say that? Would he hate me? My mind was spinning with possibilities and I almost burned the chicken."I'm back!" John called, I looked up from straining the noodles and smiled. "Everything ok?"
"Yeah. It's ready."
"Awesome. I brought Root Beer." He smiled, setting a two liter bottle of Root Beer on the counter and a two liter of Dr. Pepper as well. He got two glasses as I plated the food and poured drinks for us. We sat down and John held out his hand to me.
"What?" I frowned.
"Uh...Usually my family prays before dinner."
"Oh...Do you want to?" I asked, slipping my fingers into his. I've never prayed before but I'd do it for him.
"...No...I haven't been lately. I don't think I want to anymore." He mumbled, squeezing my hand and letting go.
"Ok." I smiled, pulling my hand back. We were quiet for a moment as we started eating and John poked his food a bit.
"You don't believe in God...Do you?" I glanced at him and he shifted. "It's not a bad thing if you don't. I'm just asking. Be honest with me." He smiled.
"No...Jamie and I stopped believing in that stuff after Mama died." I mumbled.
"Oh...That makes sense. To be perfectly honest, I don't think I've ever really believed in that either. My dad kind of pushed that stuff on us." He sighed, still poking at his food.
"Do you not like it?" I asked quietly.
"Huh? Oh! I'm just thinking." He smiled, finally starting to eat. "It's really good. Thank you." I blushed and smiled.
"I'm glad you like it." I beamed, John chuckled and we chatted while we ate. My phone chime and I pulled it out of my pocket, flipping it open. James was calling so I answered it and shoveled noodles in my mouth. "Hello?"
"Where are you?"
"At John's. I made him dinner."
"Wow..."
"Stop it. What?"
"I was just making sure you're safe. I'll tell George you've eaten. Is John taking you home?"
"Uh...Let me ask." I pulled the receiver away from my mouth and turned to John. "Can you take me home?"
"Of course." He smiled.
"Yeah, he can take me." I hummed.
"Ok. Stay safe. Love you."
"Love you too. Bye Jamie."
"Bye." He hung up and I put my phone down.
"You are an amazing cook." John grinned, I blushed and shoved more noodles in my mouth.
"Thank you." We chatted and laughed and I smiled.
"What?" John frowned.
"What do you mean?"
"You look like you're thinking." He smiled.
"Yeah...I was just thinking about us and...distance." John leaned in close to my face and grinned.
"Like this distance?" He teased.
"Oh my god. Shut up." I giggled, shoving him away.
"I'm very glad the distance is almost nonexistent." He smiled.
"Almost?" I teased.
"Are you challenging me?"
"Maybe." I giggled, John grinned and got up. "What are you doing?" He stooped down and scooped me up effortlessly, causing me to gasp and grab on to him.
"John-"
"Hush." He hummed, carrying me to the stairs. I groaned and crossed my legs. I gave up. I just let him carry me all the way to his bedroom. I flushed bright red and looked up at him.
"What are you doing?" He didn't say anything, he gently laid me down and kicked his shoes off. He crawled into the bed and pulled the covers around us, carefully pulling me toward him.
"Now the distance is nonexistent." He smiled, I blushed and bit my lip.
"Yeah..." John's ocean eyes danced with something I'd never seen before as we laid there in silence.
"Hey...Alexis?"
"Yeah?"
"Do you-" John was interrupted by his phone and he groaned. He answered it and started playing with one of my curls. "Hey, Martha." He hummed.
"Are you still hanging out with that girl!" I heard an angry voice nearly yell.
"Yeah."
"This is ridiculous! You've spent more time with her in a day than me in a week!"
"I don't think that's true." John mumbled.
"You never should've moved away! You need to come home!" John's face fell a little bit and I frowned.
"Yeah...I know. I can't just come home. My dad would get mad."
"Do you love me?"
"...Yeah."
"Then come home."
