A/N - ASK QUESTIONS PLZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

John's POV

"Why did you break up with Martha? You loved her."
   "Father-"
"I just don't understand why you'd leave her for no reason like that. You need to be more respectful toward women. I raised you better than this. You-" I tuned him out, I couldn't listen to him anymore. I just thought about Alexis. She hadn't been answering me. I was really nervous. She usually answers me, if she's too busy she'll spare a second to tell me. I just hope she's not mad at me. I miss her too much. "John!" I jumped and looked over at my father. "Are you listening to me?"
   "Yes, father." I mumbled.
"Did you really have to wear that?" I frowned and he sighed. "The lip ring. It's unprofessional. Think of your future, John-"
"You mean your future." I grumbled without thinking, my dad pulled the car over and threw it in park.
"What the fuck makes you think you can fucking talk to me like that?" He barked, I glared at him.
"I'm not a kid anymore, dad! I can do what I want! Be with whoever I want! Martha was awful to me! She was manipulative and horrible! She made me ask to have friends and-"
   "Under my orders."
   "What?"
"She was doing what I told her."
   "Father!" I gasped.
"I was looking out for yo-"
"You fucking insane! You're crazy!" I got out of the car and opened my phone.
"John! Get back here!" I kept walking. "JOHN! DON'T YOU WALK AWAY FROM ME, SON!"
"Oh! So now I'm your son? You're disgusted by the fact that you have to call me your son. Stop fucking lying, dad. I know that's what you do all day in court."
"In court? I bring money home. I put food on the table. I make sure that you can have your dream!"
"My dream? Dad! I never wanted this! I've never wanted to be a stupid lawyer! I never wanted to take your stupid job!"
"Then what do you wanna do, John?"
"I-...I think I wanna be an artist."
"An artist." He scoffed. "You have to have talent to be an artist, John. Even then they don't make anything."
"Fuck you, dad. Alexis thinks I've got talent and art is in the eye of the beholder." I snapped.
"Alexis? Who's Alexis?" I huffed and looked away.
   "My girlfriend."
"Your girlfriend? This is about a girl? Martha was perfect for you!"
"No, dad. She was awful." I grumbled.
"Enough of this. We're gonna be late."
"Fine." We got back in the car and I stared out the window as dad started driving.
"Do you have a picture of this girl?"
   "Yes." I mumbled.
"Can I see?" He asked pulling to a stop light. I pulled out my phone and opened a picture. I showed him and he glanced at it wearily. "She's pretty. Is she smart?"
"Yes...She got a perfect score on her SAT. She wants to be a writer." I smiled.
"Waste. She would probably make a great lawyer."
"She can definitely argue." I smiled lightly and sighed. "She's not wasted. She's very smart and ambitious." I smiled. "She'll make a great writer."
   "Hm."
"I don't care what you think, father. She's amazing, intelligent, funny, gorgeous-" I smiled lightly and closed the picture.
   "She's corrupting you-"
"She's letting me be myself." I grumbled, he was quiet after that. God, I hate this.

"This is my son, John. He'll be taking over the company very soon." My father smiled, gesturing to me as I shook the man's hand and forced a smile.
"It's great to meet you, sir." I smiled.
"He's going to be shadowing me today. If that's alright with you?"
"Ah, if it's all the same to you, I'd like to speak privately."
"Of course. John, wait in the car." I nodded and trudged back to the car. I sat down and tapped my phone on my leg. Suddenly it started buzzing and I answered it.
   "Hello?"
"Thirty-two texts, John? Are you ok, baby?" Alexis asked.
"Hey, baby...I was worried." I mumbled.
   "About what?"
"Us...I thought I upset you this morning or something. You weren't answering."
"Oh-...uh. I'm not upset. I was napping." She mumbled. "I didn't get a whole lot of sleep last night." She sighed.
   "Oh...Did I wake you up?"
"No, no, no. I woke up a couple minutes ago." She mumbled. "I didn't see my phone til just now."
"Ok...Are you still good to play later?"
"Yeah. Laf and Herc are out on their date. I have the XBox to myself." She giggled.
"Ok. I should be home in about twenty minutes...Sound good?"
"Yeah, that should work." She hummed.
   "Ok...Bye, baby."
"Bye, John." She hung up and I sighed lightly. The car door opened and my father started driving.
   "Who was that?"
"Alexis...She wanted to see how I was doing."
"Ah...She better not get in the way of your dream."
"She won't, father." I mumbled. I didn't wanna fight anymore. I was tired of it. I just wanted it to end. God, I hate this.
