I leap to one side and back up in an attempt to get both wolves ahead of me. It works. I have both of them in my eye line. I see the muscles in the shoulders of the brown one bunch as he gets ready to charge me. I jump at him and meet him halfway. I use my powerful jaws to rip out his throat. I lose sight of the black wolf while I'm busy with the brown one. He leaps on me while I have my jaws around the brown one. I'm distracted biting out the brown wolf's throat, so I don't see the black wolf leap for mine.
In a stroke of luck I toss my head just as the black wolf makes contact with me. Instead of griping my throat he gets a mouth full of the brown wolf's face. It covers his eyes in blood. He stumbles down, and as I drop the brown wolf. I immediately duck down and bite through his spinal cord at the back of his head. He's not dead, but he's not moving. I watch a while to make sure he's really down, before tuning into the other fight in the cabin.
Two lions are fighting to the death. They're both bleeding from slashes made with claws. I watch them scramble and leap at each other. The sofa has fallen backwards on the ground and it's in their way. It gets shoved by one of the lions as he backs up for a new run at the other. His run is successful. His jaws sink into the top of the other lion's head. The other lion goes down. The victorious lion stumbles and lands on top of the fallen one. By the smell of blood I can tell he's in real trouble.
Not knowing if it's safe to go over right away. I sit for a while trying to smell who's on top, but with all the blood in the room I can't tell. I pause to roar again, and there's answering howl a couple hundred feet away. The pack is here. Finally deciding that no one's going to come back to life and leap at my face I walk carefully over to the lions. They're both dead.
I feel my marriage bond break.  It's feels like the angry ball in my stomach unravels.  I feel sorrow, but it's not bad.  I think our bond has been weakening for a while.
