Riley's POV

My alarm's annoying beeping slowly pulls me out of sleep. I groan, blindly smack the button, and drag myself out of bed. My hair looks like a bird's nest in the mirror—classic.

I start the shower and let the water warm up while I stare at my reflection like a zombie. The hot water hits me and instantly makes things feel a little better. As I wash my hair, the coconut scent fills the bathroom—it's comforting, like a tiny spa moment. I follow up with my favorite coconut body wash. By the time I rinse off, it's like I've washed away the sleep too.

Wrapped in a towel, I pad over to my closet. Somehow, despite having way too many clothes, I feel like I have nothing to wear. After a little debate, I go with my favorite jeans and a soft grey hoodie—cozy and just right for today.

I brush through my damp hair and throw it into a ponytail, swipe on some lip balm, a little mascara, and boom—presentable. I give the mirror a quick nod before heading downstairs.

Vinnie's already up, sprawled on the couch with a smug look on his face like he owns the place—which, to be fair, he kinda does. He and Kio live here with us—me and Ryland. We're all sort of this weird little household unit.

"You look nice," Vinnie says with a smirk and a wink.

"I know," I reply, pouring myself a big glass of iced tea.

He grins. "Wanna help wake up the rest of the house?"

"Oh, absolutely. Let's start with the king of oversleeping—Ryland."

We head up to my brother's room like two agents on a mission. "We should just jump him," I whisper.

Vinnie nods. "Three... two... one—go!"

We both leap onto Ryland's bed.

"Wake up, Stormi!" we yell.

Ryland groans, already trying to shove us off. "Get out of my room. Seriously."

"Not until you rise and shine, big guy," Vinnie laughs.

I'm cracking up. Ryland flops dramatically and mumbles something about hating us.

"Okay, next target—Kio. He needs a splash," I say.

We rush downstairs, grab a couple cups of water, and sneak into Kio's room. No countdown this time—we just barge in and let the water fly.

"Ah! You guys suck!" Kio yells, already throwing water back.

It turns into a mini war, ending in chaos when Vinnie slips on the wet floor and face-plants right onto Kio's bed. I laugh so hard I almost cry.

About twenty minutes later, we're all in the kitchen having our usual breakfast. Nothing fancy—just cereal and milk, but it's one of my favorite parts of the day. Ryland's telling us about this weird dream he had, and we're all half-listening, half-munching.

Everyone's in their own vibe outfit-wise—Ryland in something chill, Kio in his usual slightly mismatched way, and Vinnie looking like a walking fashion ad. Typical.

"Alright, let's roll," Ryland says, grabbing his keys.

At school

"Hey, girl!" Mac grins at me. She's been my best friend since freshman year.

"Hey! What's up?"

"Not much. Have you seen Nick?"

I shrug. "Probably on his way. You know how he is."

We slide into our usual seats just as the bell rings and Mr. Weston stumbles in, already looking frazzled.

Lunch break

The guys are already at our usual table. Technically, Mac and I are supposed to sit with people from our grade, but no one really enforces it, and we always sit with Ryland and the rest.

As soon as I sit down, Vinnie steals a bite from my plate.

"Seriously? That was mine!"

I grab something off his plate in return.

"Hey!" he whines.

"Play fair," Ryland says, rolling his eyes but grinning anyway.

"You people are not okay," Kio laughs.

After school

"Swim when we get home?" Vinnie asks as we pile into the car.

"Hell yeah," I say.

"I'm in," Nick chimes from the back.

"Me too," Kio adds.

"Let's do it," Ryland agrees.

Back home, I throw on my green bikini and head into the living room. The guys are already waiting in their swim trunks.

"Looking good," Vinnie says, not missing a beat.

Ryland groans. "Dude, that's my little sister."

"Thanks, Vinnie," I say with a grin. "I do know."
