Chapter 10

-Peeta's POV-

I keep her tightly in my arms. They've been trying to take her off me for around an hour now but I won't budge. I've been holding her ever since she fell to the floor, we're now in the hovercraft just arriving at thirteen. You can see everyone waiting for our return, knowing everyone's safe now. They're all waiting for her to walk off, so they can congratuate her on succeeding.

Everyone walks out on their own as everyone claps and cheers. A hospital bed has been sent up and I have no choice to put her on there. Haymitch walks down with me, still being a little paralized to move. They all looked shocked at the state on me; bloodshot eyes with black bags under them, pale skinned, hair a mess and too emotionally paralized to move.

Gale, Dylan, Boggs and Finnick are bringing her down. I know I can't look so walk away. I sit down on the foor throwing small rocks into the woods. It's getting dark when I hear footsteps. I turn my head to see a little girl, maybe around eight running over.

"Peeta?" she breathes heavily. She's now standing by my side. I look up to her, wondering why they sent her out for me. "Katniss wants you. She sent me out to get you"

I look up to her confused. "Katniss is dead"

"She's not! She said she wanted to see you" she exclaims.

I stand up and she takes my hand to lead me there. When we get there Haymitch, Effie, Mrs. Everdeen, Gale, Dylan, Annie, Finnick, Johanna, Plutarch, Coin and a doctor are standing outside.

"I found him!" the girl exclaims.

The doctor comes over. "Miss Everdeen requested to see you first"

"She's alive?" I ask. He nods.

"The soldiers gave her an injection that knocks her unconcious for a few hours and also makes her body on shut down. She's awake now and she said she wants to see you"

I nod and open the door, I peer around the door to see her looking at it. She sees me and jumps out of bed, she comes running over to me as I walk slowly over to her. She jumps into my arms, her legs wrap around my stomach and her arms wrap around my neck with her head in the crook of my neck. My arms are around her back as we just stand there in the middle of her hospital room.

She stands again after a while but keeps her arms around my neck. She looks into my eyes, her beautiful grey eyes looking at me. She smiles as she stands on the tips of her toes and pecks my lips.

I look down at her and smile. My arms are resting around her waist. "What about the baby?" I ask as I look down at her stomach.

"He's okay" she smiles as she moves her gaze from me to looking down at her stomach.

"He?" I ask now looking at her again.

"Mothers instinct" she smirks.

"I think it'll be a daddy's little girl" I grin.

"Nuh uh" she smirks. "It's going to be a mummy's boy"

"Daddy's girl" I argue back, chuckling.

"Whatever you say but it's always mothers instincts that are right" she smirks.

"Okay, okay" I give in.

She giggles as she moves her arms to my torso and rests the side of her head on my chest. "You know I love you, right?"

She sighs. Both of us now sitting on her hospital bed. "I don't really know Peeta." I'm about to interupt but she continues. "I know we have this little bundle inside of me but that was before all this happened to me. All I know is that according to Haymitch and some others, I did love you in the Quarter Quell. I don't know that for sure because all I have memories of you trying to kill me in the arena"

I pull her onto my lap and wrap my arms around her. "I know. But remember that I never did those things and never will so there's nothing to be afraid of. I'll wait forever and a day for you, I wouldn't mind if you just wanted to be friends. Just as long as I have you in my life some way or another. We have this little bundle to concentrate on at the moment and I'll be there for you no-matter-what, okay?"

She nods. "Okay" she whispers.
