Chapter 4

I hear the word 'fire' and immediately think 'roasted marshmallow', so naturally I brought a pack of marshmallow. I went to the store right after class today, as Elena reminded me that there's a party tonight. Party as in a huge bon fire. It happens each year as a 'back to school' party. I don't mind because, again, MARSHMALLOWS.

I pull Elena and Bonnie along with me, to find a place to sit.

"Just admit it Elena." Bonnie says.

Five bucks that it's about Stefen.

"Oh okay, he is a little pretty." I think I'm owed five bucks.

I look over the fire and see that Stefen is approaching us, but before he can walk his way over to us, Caroline stops and talks to him. He is probably to nice to just ignore her and talks to her. Poor Stefen, I actually feel bad for him.

Elena and Bonnie talk some more about Stefen and I tune them out for the most part, as I'm to preoccupied with my marshmallows. When I finish the entire pack by myself I listen to what they are saying.

"Right, I forgot. Okay, I need a sec. Grams told me to concentrate."

"Wait, you need a crystal ball." Elena grabs a bottle and holds it out for Bonnie.

I want to get in on this. I grab the bottle the same time as Bonnie and I regret it almost immediately. No fucking way.

My vision becomes cloudy and I realize that it's fog. A bird flies into my vision and then I want to scream. There is a man coming out of the fog. I get the same vibe from him that I get from Stefen.

I grab the bottle and throw it away. What the fuck was that?

"What? Ivy why did you do that?"

"Bonnie please tell me that you didn't see fog, a bird and-"

"A man?" Bonnie finishes for me.

"But...how did I see it?" I ask.

"I'm drunk. It's the drinking. There's nothing psychic about it. Yeah? Ok, I'm gonna get a refill." Bonnie walks off and gets a refill.

Stefen finally makes an appearance and Elena and Stefen leave to get to know each other. Leaving me all by myself, until Bonnie comes to sit next to me.

"Hey Bonnie. We need to talk about what we saw. I am freaking out because that man gives me a bad vibe. Like he gives off danger, I get the same vibe from Stefen. And if you're actually a witch, what does that make me?"

Bonnie is to drunk to even answer my question. Oh well, it looks like I'll be driving us home.

Elena and Stefen come back and I hear them talk about Jeremy. He's drunk and Elena goes off to find him. I follow after them and groan out loud at Elena being a total control freak.

"It's Vicky."

"Oh my God"

Vicky Donovan is laying unconscious on the ground with blood on her clothes. Something bit her and she's losing a lot of blood. I go to make sure that she has a pulse but Matt and Jer stop.

"I need to check if she has a pulse. You know that I'm trying to get into Med school" they finally let me check on her and thankfully she's still alive but barely.

"She's still alive and breathing but you need to call an ambulance. Now!" I don't know if they listen to me because everyone is shocked and just looking at Vicky.

"Vicky, Vicky, come one, open your eyes, look at me." Jer says in distress. Fucking idiots, no one called the damn ambulance. I call them myself, luckily they arrive shortly.

Matt leaves with Vicky in the ambulance.

"Hey we're gonna go to the Mainland Coffee, wait for news." Bonnie says to us.

"I gotta take Jeremy home."

"Elena there is no way that he is going home. I suggest taking him to the hospital. He can be there with Matt"

"There's no way that I'm psychic, but I feel as if..."

"This is only the beginning?" I ask her and she looks at my weirdly.

Elena goes to Jeremy and tells him that we're going home.

"People are going to stop giving you breaks, Jer. They just don't care anymore. They don't remember that our parents are dead, because they've got their own lives to deal with. The rest of the world has moved on, you should try, too."

"Elena! That is way out of line. How can you say that?" I am out raged.

"I've seen you in the cemetery writing in your diary. Is that, is that supposed to be you moving on?"

"Mom and dad wouldn't have wanted this"

"Stop it both of you. You make me sick. I'm getting my own way home, don't fucking wait up for me."

I walk to the Grill and see Bonnie and Caroline drinking coffee. They look like shit.

"Why didn't he go for me?"

"Hey guys. Bonnie I'm sober, I haven't drank anything, I can drive and sleep over at your house? I'm not in the mood for either of my siblings right now and I can just call my Aunt. I mean if that's okay with you."

Bonnie agrees and offer's to take Caroline but she refuses. She doesn't want to go home yet.

We leave the Grill. There's a man at the Bar that looks at Caroline and she looks back at him. Stefen long forgotten, she gives him the brightest smile.
