Chapter 29

"You should leave town." Isobel's words ring through my mind. It's good advice, there's no way other places are this fucked up. I could go to New York or Italy or Venice. Yeah Venice sound wonderful. Anything sounds better than Mystic Falls.

I've got a car but I don't have enough resources to take care of myself. Besides I can't leave, not yet anyway.

"Hey." Bonnie snaps her fingers in front of my face. I must've been so deep in thought.

"Any news?" She shakes her head in defeat. The mystery gang finally arrived.

"Bonnie how is she?"

"She's weak. They don't know if she's going to make it." I feel the tremor roll off her body. Caroline is to young to die, she's to bright. I couldn't imagine a world without her.

She annoying and loud but she's my friend. She's as been there for me—"I could give her my blood." He locks eyes with me, but doesn't hold it for long.

Elena starts to protest. We either give her vamp blood or she dies. I don't know if I like either option.

"No, just enough to heal her. She will be safe in the hospital and it will be out of her system in a day, she will be better Elena." It's like talking to a child. You have to explain everything so slowly.

"It's too risky, I can't agree to that." I put my face in my hands. "It's not about you. Care is going to die. And you being the most emotional person on the planet will cry the hardest the funeral, it will eat you alive if she dies and you knew you could help—"

"Do it." Bonnie interrupts, I'm glad she did because I could feel myself get agitated."This is Caroline. We can't let her die. Do it." Elena can't believe that Bonnie said that. She was about to argue but Damon talks over her.

"If I do this, you, Ivy and me, call a truce?" It irritates me that he thinks just doing one good deed will erase all the bad.

"No. But you'll do it anyway. For Elena." She walks away, leaving me with the last two people I want to be alone with.

They argue and bicker but I zone out. We all go home and wait for more news. Maybe I'll back a cake. Yeah cake sounds great. I keep myself busy in the kitchen. Luckily we had enough ingredients for double chocolate cake.

Unfortunately the baking doesn't distract me enough because Damon, Stefan and Elena's conversation is more interesting.

"Katherine happened."

"Elena's doppelgänger?" No wonder everything went to shit. There's a new vampire in town. Damon nods. Why does he have to look like that. So beautiful with those pretty eyes.

"I told Jeremy, I can't lie to him anymore." I snort. You got caught and now you want to act the saint.

They discuss the fact that Katherine has been in the house and that it's dangerous. But more interestingly she fooled Damon. And I want to know how. Stefan seems interested to.

"What happened tonight when you thought she was Elena?"

"To risk another frown line encroaching on a very crowded forehead. We...kissed." Seriously? Elena wouldn't do that, she in love with Stefan. I mean I can see her liking Damon but not like that...yet.

Stefan gets upset and Damon doesn't help the situation because he antagonises him further. He puckers his lips and making kissing noises. Stefan rushes over to him with his super speed but Damon uses his super speed as well and stands next to Elena.

Elena gets in the middle trying to diffuse the situation. I check on the cake and it's almost done, it smells wonderful. I'll be having dessert and a show, lucky me.
