Song: Because it's 2012 and I'm nostalgic xWe all file into our seats in the classroom. French, my second favourite subject after Art.
The classrom is laid out really weirdly today. There are single tables facing the board like an exam hall.
"What happened to the tables miss?" Justine asks.
"We're doing independent work for the second half of the lesson, I don't want anyone to be distracted."
She nods.
When everyone is in their seats, Miss takes the register.
"Now, quietly speak to your neighbour about what you did last weekend, in FRENCH. I'll be walking around to check your conversations!"
Mumbles erupt everywhere.
I turn to the person beside me, Justine. Miss Bernard is really nice so she lets us sit where we want, as long as we concentrate.
I smile. "Bonjour Justine."
She chuckles. "Bonjour, quelle... est... your weekend?"
I burst out laughing. "Seriously?!"
She literally just said 'hello those is your weekend'.
"Low me man, French is dead!"
I chuckle then sigh.
"All you have to do is check your vocab bo..."
I trail off as I hear the sound of someone's phone ringing. Unfortunately I'm not the only one that notices. I already learned from day one that your phone will get taken if you use it outside of break. But recently, they banned phones altogether because people were taking advantage of being able to use them at breaks. Now, if your phone goes off in lesson, it gets taken till the end of term.
Everyone starts making random noises to cover it up, so it doesn't get confiscated.
"LALALALALALA!"
"WOAAAH! WOOOOAH! WOOOOAH!"
"OOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
Someone starts drumming on the table.
"WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAH!"
Others stamp their feet under their desks.
"BONJOUR BONJOUR BONJOUR" Someone shouts repeatedly.
Justine and I watch in amusement.
Miss looks so confused. She stands up, scanning the classroom, trying to track the phone down.
"QUIET! EVERYONE QUIET!" She eventually shouts, struggling to locate the phone.
The noise subsides.
Peak, the phone is still going off. I'm guessing the person hasn't realised it's their phone yet.
"Shit! It's me!" Justine hisses to me. "It's somewhere in my bag!"
I decide to create a diversion till she finds it and switches it off.
Think Kyrah think.
I scream "SNEAKBO! LET ME SHOW YOU THE WAVE!"
People join in.
"GUN MAN FAM I DON'T PLAY GAMES!"
"BADMAN NOW I'M OUT ON A RAGE!"
"I ROLL OUT THEN LOCK OFF THE RAVE!"
Some people drum the beat and hum, noise fills the classroom.
