Tuesday, Lunch
I lie face down against my blazer on the table, not caring for the conversation Talia's friends are currently having. I have the dirtiest hangover. I had to force myself to get up for school in time so my Mum wouldn't get onto me for going out on a school night. My head fucking hurts.
My phone vibrates.
+44...: It's gunshots for them paigon yatts
I kiss my teeth, it's the same number from yesterday. When I woke up and clicked into it, I realised it was from the same number I got the other messages. I would go up to the twins' friends now but my head is pounding. I'll confront them about it tomorrow.
"Kyrah let me chat to you quickly." Someone says randomly.
"Mmmmm who's calling me man?" I kiss my teeth and turn over slowly. The painful rays of sunlight connecting with my eyes send shocks of electricity through my head. I frown while rubbing my temples. Why is it so bright outside?! I quickly use my hands to form a sun visor to look up at them.
"Danika." She says.
"Mm hi Danika, can we chat tomorrow please?"
"Not gonna lie, it can't wait." She says.
I sigh then force myself to get up. Ugh what's this about? Omolaye offers me a hand to lean on as I stagger to my feet. The way I want to bang Brandon, I told him I didn't wanna drink kmt.
I pick up my stuff and slowly follow Danika away from the group, to the other side of the football pitch.
Oh thank God, there's shade here. I lean against the cool wall in relief.
"Wahgwan?" I ask.
"Look," She sighs and shakes her head "I was in the toilet and I heard someone say the twins are gonna jump you this week. I think it was one of their friends."
"What?"
She nods "You need to watch your back. They have ears in this school, don't trust any Bradford girls."
I huff then kick the wall in frustration "Is it everyday?" I need to understand what their issue is with me, this has gotten out of hand.
She looks at me empathetically. "Don't worry, my girls got you if anything happens."
I sigh and kiss my teeth. "Thanks. Did you hear anything else?"
She shakes her head "All I know is they're coming with a bag of man, apparently you lot got mandem on them last time so they're returning the favour." She does quotation fingers as she emphasises the last part.
"What the hell? We didn't get man on them, the mandem are the ones that broke it up?"
"That's not what they think, they think you tried to set them up."
I scoff, look at the pot calling the kettle black. As my mum would say.
I kiss my teeth and run a hand through my hair. I don't know why Zanisha thought it was a good idea to tell the boys. So this whole thing would've been squashed if they weren't there?
"Listen, we didn't set them up, the mandem didn't even touch them apart from when they broke up the fights. I can show you videos right now."
She raises her hands "You don't need to prove nothing to me, I believe you. But what you gonna do?"
I run a hand down my face then shake my head "Not sure..." I sigh, this is long man. "Do you know when they're tryna do this?"
She shakes her head "My guess is after school while your girls are excluded, coz they know you'll be alone."
