I feel great sorrow saying goodbye to my family today. But I am also incredibly excited for the next chapter in my life. I looked around my childhood home -more like an old boring plantation- but it was still my home. Jane and Mary came down the stairs in a hurricane of giggles. "Are you almost ready to go, Tom?"

They were older than me and happened to be going to the same college. Martha, Anna, Elizabeth and Lucy were my younger sisters. Anna and Randolph were twins. And I couldn't forget my younger brother, Peter. My mother came down the stairs in a hurry, carrying my suitcase.

"Hurry now, we wouldn't want my babies to be late on their first day!" She screamed excitedly, clapping her hands together. She was incredibly upset about my leave until I promised her I would be back for Christmas and the summer. I embraced my dear old mother for the last time. For a while anyways.
"Thank you, mama. Love you."
She released me and stepped back for a second, looking at all of her children. We all stood still for a moment until I punched Peter in the arm in a brotherly sort of way. Then, my father came down the stairs.

"Did you forget about me, son?" He said chuckling. I went up to him holding out my hand, but he gave me a huge pat on the back instead.
"Son, I am so proud of you." He sighed and said his goodbyes to Jane and Mary. My siblings and parents followed us all the way out to the car. My father pulled me aside for a moment.
"Tommy," He used that silly old nickname from when I was five. "Please watch over your sisters for me. You know how they can get being so far from home for so long."
I could have sworn I had seen a tear form in his eye.
"I will dad, I promise."
He pulled me in for one last hug. "Thank you son, and good luck at college."

Me and Mary said our last goodbyes as Jane jumped into the driver's seat and started up the car. We began our long drive from Virginia to Pennsylvania.

We had been in the car for hours. I was anxious to see everyone again. I hope that James wasn't my roommate. After graduation last year I had finally had enough of his cruel, taunting lifestyle and decided to leave it all behind me. It happened right after we had graduated.
"Hey tommy," he said smirking. For some reason when he said it this time, it pissed me off.
"Don't call me that. You know that only my father calls me that."
"Okay, whatever. But look, let's go bother Hamilton one last time before we have to go."
He turned and started walking up to Hamilton, who was walking up to go see his friends. I had made the decision to stay out of it. James began to say some really hurtful things about Hamilton's family, and pushed him down on to the concrete.
"C'mon Thomas, let's go." I watched Madison walk away. Hamilton just sat there, processing what he had just hear. The next thing I did shocked me. I needed to grow up and apologize. Even if it all came out in a mumble.
"heyimreallysorryaboutthatseeyoulaterhamilton." And with that, I left high school hoping that I could keep the past in the past. The truth was, I really didn't think Alexander was all that bad. He probably only thinks of me as his bully. Maybe we can change that?

I told James that I could no longer be friends with him anymore. He shrugged his shoulders and walked away. Hm, that was easier than I thought.

He finally arrived at King's and I couldn't have been more excited. I was like a kid in a candy store. We sorted out our schedules, and went to find our dorms.

"Hello, My name is Thomas Jefferson, I am here to pickup my dorm key." I said, putting out the southern charm.

"Yes, of course sir," The young lady behind the counter beamed up at me.

"You are in dorm C21." She smiled, handing me the keys.

"Thank you. Um, could you tell me who I am in a dorm with?"

"Yes of course, let me check," she typed something in on her computer. "It says here that you are in a dorm with Alexander Hamilton."

Sweet Jesus.
