Azuki sat at the kitchen table, nervous and uncomfortable. The sun was just about gone in the window to his left, which was earlier than usual for his dad to get home. Stuffed All Might sat on the table in front of him. On the other side of the table were his parents and Doctor Gu.

Doctor Gu was almost a member of the family with how much he would come over. He would come to check on Azuki, and then his parents would ask him to stay for dinner. He usually declined but he always made it up by coming back sooner than later. His hair that had been receding for most of Azuki's life had finally stopped, the result was him being bald, with just a messy beard being the only hair on his head. He sat there now, patiently and yet nervous. That was the energy of the whole room, wild anticipation. Azuki has been Gu's longest patient, he had taken care of him since birth to his quirk activating till now. He had even made a transfer to a hospital near the Sheishin family just to help Azuki even more. Doctor Gu looked like he was on the edge of his seat, probably thinking that they had finally found a cure or something to help Azuki after all this time. Azuki couldn't stomach what was about to happen, he was gonna let Doctor Gu down.

As bad as he felt for letting Gu down, he would much rather prefer disappointing twenty Gu's by telling them they would all go bald by the age of fifty then disappoint his dad one bit. He sat across the table directly from Azuki, looking worn out and tired like always. Azuki always felt like he let his dad down the most. He used to have the biggest pool of optimism that you could swim in and never get discouraged, but now that pool has been drained, with only the condensation left. He tried the hardest to help Azuki, dedicating almost all of his time spent home with him, which wasn't a lot. The new support item company his dad worked at now demanded a lot of him. Musutafu was a bustling hub of heroes and agencies, which meant to support the heroes, you need a lot of support items. With all of his time and money and energy trying to help his son the last years, the old company let him go, as when he would stay up to keep Azuki company he couldn't work very much and was found sleeping in secluded spots in the office. Now he sat across from Azuki, a smile on the face of a man beaten down by life, but he still smiled. He always smiled for Azuki.

"Ok Azuki, do the thing you did earlier to scare me, show Doctor Gu and your father please" said his mother, the only person in the room that didn't seem at all like she was on edge or oozing anticipation. She had already seen his trick, she had no worries of all, but Azuki honestly wondered if she was right in the head after he scared her, she had cried nonstop, but she seemed happy the whole time. Azuki did not want to get to the part in his life where he lost his mind, he was saddened that he drove his mom to be that way.

"Buuuut it's not that big of a deal, it's hardly worth getting everyone excited" mumbled Azuki. His father looked intent as ever, patiently waiting for his son to show him what his wife claimed to be the key to Azuki's problems. "Azuki please, your father rushed home and he even brought Doctor Gu with him, show them please". Azuki couldn't bring himself to do it. He knew that it wasn't what they wanted to see, no matter what his mom said. How could being able to inhabit a stuffed toy of the symbol of peace fix anything? It wouldn't, and Azuki couldn't bear the disappointment that would be all over his dads face. "It's not anything special, it's not gonna fix anything, might as well forget about it" Azuki huffed out. Azuki's mom started looking quite angry before his father chimed in.

"Azuki, whether it's special or not, I would like to see what you can do with your quirk, it would mean a lot to me" he said softly, the smile still on his face.
Azuki froze for a second. He had only done this when he was alone and until recently, when he didn't think far enough ahead and then scared his mother. He didn't know that he would have to do this, to disappoint the only people that mattered to him anymore.

"Ok, for you dad" Azuki whispered. Azuki's mom shot his dad an annoyed look to which he winked back at. She rolled her eyes, but it made her smile nonetheless. Azuki concentrated and his form started to change to the small maroon ball of ethereal energy. He could still see them perfectly, he just knew from experience he no longer had a body. His mom beamed at him, the delight all over her face. Doctor Gu was taking notes it seemed, but dad. Dad had one eyebrow raised up questionably, then gave a small nod to Azuki. Azuki collected himself emotionally and entered All-might.
