TW: blood, abuse, minor gore
Marie ran down the stairs. "MOM?! DAD?!"
No, no, no, no! Marie panicked. This can't happen again. Please don't happen again.
"MOM?!"
Marie busted into the kitchen. The tap was running. Water pooled out across the floor. Her mom laid against the sink cabinets, dark blood blotted all over her forehead. Her eyes were bruised and purple, and all the wonderful glowing life that she had inside her was drained from her face, as she laid there, unconscious, on the kitchen floor.
Marie stared in shock. Chills ran down her spine, as if the living soul was being sucked out of her. A cold breeze blew inside from the open window. She slowly panned her eyes over to him.
Him.
There he stood, with a bloody cooking pan in his hand, and a blank look on his face.
HIM.
Her heart pounded. Hot blood flushed through her body, leaving behind the coldness that consumed her.
Marie stormed over to him and grabbed him roughly by the collar. "Tell me, Mark. What the FUCK. DID YOU DO. TO. MY. MOTHER."
"Oh, come on, Marie. Call me Dad. No need to be formal." He smiled.
"Oh, I think we need to be formal here. Because what you just did, IS FUCKING HURT HER!" Marie fumed.
"Oh, so you want to fight? We're family, Marie, you and me. That woman lying on the ground got what she deserved. She was too much a bitch, anyways." Mark replied.
Marie froze. Oh, a bitch, you say?
"Fine. Then I'll show you how much of a bitch YOU are." Marie snapped back.
Marie grabbed Mark by both his arms, put her back against his chest, swiftly threw him over her shoulders, and slammed him onto the ground. Marie smiled, seeing that her Judo skills were finally coming in handy.
"Watch your fucking mouth, Mark." She stomped her foot on his chest. "You were never my Dad. And you never will be."
Mark groaned and rolled over, eventually passing out.
Marie quickly took her foot off of him and rushed over to her Mom.
"Mom! Mom! Please wake up. I need you." Marie gently shook her mom. She grabbed a clean kitchen towel and wet it with water, gently rubbing off the blood on her mom's forehead. After pressing down a clean bandage, her mom finally stirred awake.
"Ma-Marie. My girl. You're...you're here."
Marie widened her eyes and smiled. "Yes Mom, I'm here. I'm here with you." She started crying.
"Oh, no my beautiful baby. Don't...don't cry." Marie's Mom whispered.
"Mom, I'm driving you to the hospital. You...need help." Marie said in between sniffles.
"No, you...you don't have a driver's license yet." Her mom said weakly.
"It's fine Mom, I have a permit. C'mon, let's go." Marie reassured her.
Marie lifted her mom up by the arms and walked her to the car. As she was driving, she thought of other things to get her mind off of what just happened. She put Questions by khai dreams on and turned the volume up to calm both her and her mom down.
The music muffled and faded away. The same red and blue lines appeared in front of her, and a faint voice of someone talking grew louder in her ears.
"Toby, what do I do?" A muffled voice talked in her head.
Marie parked in the hospital lot and swung her head left and right to see if someone was there.
"She was pretty, or at least her silhouette was." The voice talked again.
"Mom, did you hear that?" Marie asked.
"Hear what honey?" Her mom replied.
"It sounded like...never mind." Marie took back her words.
The song ended.
It sounded like a boy.
"We should get you into the hospital now." Marie helped her mom out of the car and walked into the hospital.
That was...weird.
