Now, I know what you're thinking.
-Ivy, one simple thing Kai says can't make you stay with him.
-Ivy, its all going to shit again! You're crazy for believing this'll work out in the end.
You'd be kind of right in all honesty. Kai was terrible for me, but there you and I both know how I'd open any door he came knocking at.
But don't you remember when I said I knew Kai more than I knew anyone else in the world? It's because I do. There's no person in the world I could imagine being with besides Kai. Funny thing is, Kai and I never officially were together. Ever. We never went on an official date and he was never officially mine, but I guess officially doesn't mean anything to us.
Ever since I've seen Kai, things have been feeling so great for me. I finally felt a little better from the past few months of our relentless mind games and trickery. It finally felt like it was going to work out.
"Come on Iv, it's your last day." My mom said while cracking my door open.
Last day of junior year.
"Got it, be out in a minute." I respond.
I check the time to see it's a few minutes past the time Kai calls me every morning. Yes, he's still in, but somehow our relationship has been getting better. The therapy thing is really working for him.
After getting ready, I hop into the car with my mom and we drive to school.
"So, you're almost graduating soon."
"Well, yeah. I still have a year mom."
"I know, I know. I just feel like you were fifteen yesterday and now you're almost eighteen."
I smile a little, "Yeah, I guess."
"Dad would be proud." She follows this with turning the radio up a little bit--we got it fixed--and becoming silenced.
I don't think he would be all that proud.
I put on my earbuds and listen to some music. I shuffle my playlist until I hear a song that yanks at my heart.
Cherry Wine by Hozier
Kai and I used to listen to this song together all of the time. We're a sucker for lovey dovey music, especially when its a sad one.
"Its divinneee." I sing softly, I look at the time once more to see that it was now twenty minutes past the time Kai gets the phone. Busy day?
Mom and I finally pull up to school and I give her a hug before walking in.
"Iv!" Roger yells as he jogs up to me. I remove one bud and lower my music.
"Hey! What do you want now?" I ask, he laughs.
"We haven't spoke in awhile Iv, what's up?"
"We spoke yesterday, what do you want before I run away?"
"Okay, okay relax. I just wanted to see if you want to get the gang back together? Like old times?" He asks, sounds like a lot of fun.
"Maybe--sure? What do you guys want to do?"
"Not sure, we could all meet up at Rileys though? Bring snacks, bud?"
"Sure, tonight?"
"Yeah, tonight, I already told Charlie."
"Okay, bye now." He runs along the hallway once again and I catch up with Charlie.
She's holding onto her locker and staring into the mirror they have, almost looking shocked. I walk up to her slowly and place my hand on her shoulder.
