Previously on "Dark Past"
Ryder remembered some of his worst childhood memories.

Ryder POV
I don't know what happened after that. My mind fell silent. Everything went dark. Only black. Pitch black.

But I did feel something.
Or was it someone.....

I felt a warm arm on my chest, hugging me.

I felt warm breaths on my forehead. Whoever it was I should thank them. I tried to speak...

My body was cold, I was half numb. I couldn't guess who it could be. Maybe Katie...I tried to speak again, I tried to say "Katie".. I don't know if I said it or not. I can't hear anything. Maybe I should stop trying to speak.

In less than ten minutes, I felt something else on my chest. It was small.

Small for a human. Maybe Marshall...

(At that time)
What really was happening in the outer World,

Katie POV
Ryder.
When will you wake up?
My mind was blank. I don't know what to do.

I climbed into is bed.

'He needs to be warm' Marshall said, sitting beside me.

'Snuggle him?' I asked him.

'Sure' he replied 'Maybe it will make him warm.'

It seems like a good idea to me.

'I'll go check on the pups' he said as he raced to the elevator. He was gone.

I was all alone.....
Sitting beside the cutest boy ever...
I got under the blanket....
I hugged him...
Giving him all the warmth...
I began whispering in his ear...

'Ryder..' is the only word I could get out of my mouth.

'Please..' I said. 'Wake up...Everyone needs you.... Adventure Bay needs you....The pups need you....I need you...'

As I was about to fall asleep, I heard..

'Katie..'

Did Ryder just say my name? I think so...

'Ryder?' I called back.

No response..

After two minutes. He spoke again..

'Katie...' He said.

'Ryder!' I almost shouted. 'Are you okay! Wake up!!'

No response.

I waited, maybe he might respond. Marshall was here now. I should tell him!

'Marshall!' I shouted.

'Yes, Katie?' he responded.

'Ryder spoke!' I said. He just stood there.

Marshall POV
'Ryder spoke!' Katie said. Seriously? He's in a very critical state and Katie just said that he spoke.

'Are you daydreaming, Katie?' I asked her.

'Daydreaming?' she said looking at me in disbelief.

'Katie, he's in a very serious state. There is only Twenty Percent no! Ten no no no! Zero chances for him to talk! Don't joke Katie. I just argued the pups to have some food and now you're joking that Ryder spoke! Oh I'm so.. Ahhhh!!!' I said or did I shout at her? I don't know. I'm feeling kinda blue.

I climbed into the other side of the bed. I laid on top of Ryder trying to make him warm.

'Marshall...' Katie paused before continuing. 'I wasn't joking. He really spoke. I didn't believe myself neither when he spoke the first time. I heard someone say "Katie". I thought I was daydreaming too. But I saw...'

'..him speak the second time?' I completed it for her, in the same time asking it as a question.

'Yes.' she said.

'Ok.' I started 'So...what did he tell anyway?'

'He....actually..' Katie dragged.

Katie POV

'So....what did he tell anyway?' Marshall asked.

O....M.....Goodness!
Should I tell him?
Ryder said my name twice. But what will Marshall think?

'He.....actually..' I didn't know what to say! I don't want Marshall to think it like that!

'Something wrong?' Marshall asked.

'N..no..!' I stammered. A little did I know that I was blushing. I tried to hide it. But ofcourse I couldn't. Ryder calling my name even when he's unconscious was too much for me...

Ofcourse, secretly I have a spot in my heart for him. He stole it....

'I'll tell you later, Marshall.' I said.

'Something dreamy, huh?' Marshall smirked.

Busted...

'Nope!' I said getting out of bed so that he won't see me blushing like crazy!

'Calm down,Katie.' I heard Marshall say. 'I know you both have a thing.'

I was actually facing Marshall. He was smirking at me.

'No, Marshall!' I said.

'Don't lie.' he said. 'I can clearly see that you're lying 'cause you're blushing hot red!'

'Marshall!' I said trying to be sincere. 'It's not like that! He's my friend!'

'Friend?' he smirked again. 'You both act closer than just friends.'

'That's because we're best friends. We always have each other's back!' I almost shouted.

'Ok, ok!' Marshall said. 'I believe you!'

I sat back on the bed.

Ryder actually moved!

'Did?' Marshall started.

'Ryder just move?' I completed it for him. 'Yes. Yes he did.' I smirked back at the Dalmatian who didn't believe me when I told him he spoke.

'Surprised?' I asked him.

'So...' Marshall paused. 'He did speak, huh?'

'Yes!' I replied.

Ryder started to stir. He slowly opened his eyes. Closed it swiftly.

'Too bright..' he said. His voice was crackling.

'Marshall!' I quiet shouted. 'Turn off the lights!'

Marshall switched them off.

Ohhh I can't wait to see those beautiful hypnotysing amber brown eyes!

He opened his eyes again. He was still dizzy. I put an arm around him, supporting him.

'Katie, Marshall?' he said.

Finally he let out a cute smile. Oh boy!!!

I enjoyed writing this. So much Kyder moments!!Some books show Marshall as fond of Ryder x Katie. I'm making it clear. He's not like that in this book. He just jokingly guessed it. So Katie managed it.
