Chapter: N I N E T E E N

“…I’d hate it if you felt like I wasn’t being a good mommy to you,” –Tavi

I walked downstairs into the dark kitchen to check on Tavi. I woke up and she was no longer in the bed and was instead down here. She sat in the dark, with a bottle of liquor sitting in front of her and her head in her hands.

I walked up to her and snatched the bottle and the glass she was drinking out of. When she felt my presence she looked up at me with red puffy eyes. Her face held a sad expression, and I just hope she’s not crying about the same shit she was before.

“Are you gonna keep doin’ this to yo’ self?” I asked dumping the liquor into the sink.

She wiped her tears and sighed, “What are you talkin’ about?”

“Are you gonna keep cryin’ over that nigga? The shit is gettin’ old,” I spoke honestly. She kissed her teeth and proceeded to get up and walk out the kitchen. Before she could leave I grabbed her and turned her around so that she was facing me, “I’m sorry,”

“I’m not fuckin’ crying over him,” She mumbled.

“Then what?” I asked, “Talk to me? You haven’t said shit since you got back,”

“Talking isn’t gonna fix anything,” She tucked her bottom lip into her mouth to keep from crying, “There is nothing I can do,”

From what I can see it probably got something to do with her mom. She said she was going to some dinner party and when she got back she didn’t say a word. She fell asleep before Addison and me and now here she is drinking herself away.

“Just tell me what’s up,” I pulled her over to a stool, sat her on it and stood in between her legs, “C’mon baby tell me,”

She kept looking down at her fingers as she twirled one around the other, to keep herself calm. I ran my hands down my face and waited for her to speak. She didn’t say a word, but I was gonna sit here until she spoke. The time on the stove read; 3:24 a.m. It was late as hell, but I wasn’t going to sleep until she told me what was wrong.

“Tavi…,” I cupped her face in my hands and made her look up at me. “Say somethin’,”

Her tears flowed out of her eyes as she clutched onto her chest, “It hurt so bad,” She murmured through her tears. She opened her mouth to talk again but she just broke down. She wrapped her arms around my neck and sobbed into my chest as if she was dying.

I don’t know what the hell is wrong with her, but judging by how she’s crying it must not be anything she’s used to. No matter what type of shit Tavi goes through she’s able to wipe the little bit of tears she shed and keep it moving. But right now, she can’t even breathe properly from how hard she’s crying.
