Just the mention of the name of this drama gets me emotional I'm not kidding. Back in my first days of Kdrama binge watching, I watched many series but I don't think I realized what good kdramas were and which ones were bad.

I'm talking in term of plot, character development, backstory, and most importantly, THE MESSAGE of the kdrama.

The proof was that I survived 16 episodes of the Lord of Habaek and not once complained about how horrible it is until later. This kdrama is trash honestly, if it weren't for Gongmyung and Krystal saving the plotline, then it would have ranked worse than it did.

HOWEVER

I think "Age of Youth" was an eye opener. Because this drama ranks 10 in every category honestly.

QUICK SUMMARY:

A girl moves in to "Belle Epoque" where she meets four other girls who are her roommates. Each one has her own backstory and struggles. Is Song a psychic? What about our Christian girl and her boyfriend? Is the third roommate rich? Why does the fourth roommate work so much? Add a ghost in a cabinet and here you have one of the best kdramas to EVER exist.

Bonus: the female lead is the same one from Jaehyun's kdrama, one of the roommates is Seungyeon from KARA.

This kdrama... wooooah... it touches on so many meaningful subjects. This is far from being your shallow toxic male lead, a mistreated second lead that OBVIOUSLY deserved better, and a Y/N.

This is a story. "Age of youth" is what its title indicates. It takes on the various topics you will certainly encounter as a teenager or young adult.

This is one of the few kdramas where friendship is valued so much you forget about the relationships. God, there were instances where I shipped the female characters and even moments WHERE I WISHED THE DAMN MALE CHARACTERS DIDN'T EXIST.

there is slow burn, a one sided crush, a couple with a height difference, abusive relationships, a sexy chef, a boy in a band, a male boss, daddy issues

AND STRONG FEMALE LEADS WHO ARE EMPOWERING EACH OTHER

IM NOT KIDDING

The second season is also GREAT AND FANTASTIC

and I know a lot of people weren't a big fan of the slight cast change, because I hated it at first too, but then upon watching more episodes, I realized that it didn't matter much

THAT FIRST EPISODE STAYS SUPERIOR IDC WHAT ANYONE SAYS THEY ATE THAT MAN UP PLSVWKYQNQYQN

It also touches on even MORE serious topic like child abuse and sexual assault and suicide. The ending had me bawling my eyes out

And if you know me, you know that I barely cry and the only kdrama that had me cry is Scarlet heart Ryeo: moon lovers.

Honestly, this is your sign to watch this kdrama, it's so good.

I love the satirical and comedic approach to difficult subjects, because unlike many other shows, this one ACTUALLY turns serious when it should and keeps the jokes in the right moments

Please watch it and tell me what you think about it

I WILL DEFINITELY REWATCH IT AGAIN WHEN THE TIME IS CONVENIENT AND I DON'T HAVE NATIONALS UP MY ASS

But if you do have time, go search age of youth on Kissasian or hello my twenties on Netflix

YOU. WON'T. REGRET. IT.

Also, when did my recommendations disappoint?

*awkward silence*

ANYWAYS

Have a nice day you baddie! I know you're already rocking your life, but keep shining baby.

The bad moment you were having just now? Doesn't define who you are. The bad grade you had? GRADES ARE A SOCIAL CONSTRUCT and we all know many people succeeded even with no diploms. That b*y who made you feel worthless? drop his @ and watch me end him and his ancestors. That mistake you made? "Mistakes are the beginning of success" quote by me.

The best flowery beginnings come after the most fatal devastating heartbreaks because you have to know the cold storm in order to appreciate the warmth of the sun

Secure the bag, be successful, be happy

I KNOW AND YOU KNOW AND WE ALL KNOW YOU CAN BE ALL THAT AND EVERYTHING MORE

I love you bb

Again: You're the baddest baddie bitch 🤍🤎
