Okay, so, either Yujin's teacher had lied about her decent technique, or maybe she had underestimated the importance of strength and regular exercise.
Jeno had taken her down in less than fifteen seconds after their sparring match had started, and while Taekwondo didn't include any more ground game than Muay Thai, it was obvious that Jeno's size and strength were on his side once Yujin was on her back and he had her wrists pinned to the floor, while he straddled her waist.
"I suppose I get to keep my hoodie", Jeno taunted her.
Yujin's eyes narrowed but she didn't answer. Instead, she bridged her hips and pushed the back of his thigh with her thighs, trying to disturb his balance. If she could loosen his grip of her hands, she might be able to turn the situation around. The first push didn't have desired effect but when she tried again after realigning herself, Jeno's body moved slightly and she managed to pull her wrists free. Then she hurried to grab his left arm and use her other arm against his side as a leverage to tip him over.
The attempt was successful and Yujin let out a breathless giggle when Jeno fell to his side and she got free. Both of them jumped up and the match continued.
Not long after Yujin tried to kick Jeno's stomach but he blocked it by grabbing her ankle. She tried to escape by turning her body to the side. He, however pulled her leg, making her lose her balance.
For a second, she was scared that she would fall down uncontrollably and hit her head but he took a hold of her, falling together with her and breaking the fall so that neither of them hurt themselves when they hit the floor.
"Damn it", Yujin muttered when Jeno pinned her against the floor again.
Jeno smiled at her. The position they were in - his hands holding hers above her head while his legs were between her thighs - felt very intimate and the confident smile on his face didn't make the situation any better.
Stupid hot Jeno.
"Did I win?" he asked softly. "Or do you want to try again?"
Yujin considered her options for a moment and peeked at the position her legs were in, before realizing how unlikely it was that she would magically win if she tried again. She exhaled exaggeratedly, letting her head rest against the floor.
"It would seem that my teacher lied to me about the quality of my technique", she admitted her defeat grumpily.
Jeno laughed and released her, laying down next to her instead.
"Or maybe it has something to do with the fact that I am bigger and have worked as a personal trainer", he suggested. When she didn't answer, he glanced at her. "Also, some of the people I live with think that regular surprise attacks are the best way to express love and affection."
"Love and affection?" Haechan's voice yelled at the same time as the front door opened. "Did I hear you correctly?"
The guys had returned from the dinner.
Yujin turned to face Jeno. She knew that she had to open her mouth before she'd have cold feet.
"I think that Jisung is the young kid Chenle saved from that burning hotel", she rushed to say and, as the words left her mouth, her body relaxed. She had managed to say it before overthinking it.
Jeno blinked. "What? How come?" he asked after a second of confused silence.
"What are you doing on the floor?" Chenle asked. He was standing in the doorway, perplexed look in his eyes. Jaemin and Haechan were peeking over his shoulders and Renjun was probably somewhere behind them.
