"You don't want to stay with them, right?" Chenle asked from Jisung while Taeil and Haechan were tinkering with the door, making a lot of noise. "You wouldn't have helped Yujin noona if you were on their side."
Jisung remained quiet, rocking from side to side awkwardly. He seemed to be unsure how to respond to Chenle's loud assumptions.
Yujin nudged Chenle's arm. "Let him breathe."
After a couple of attempts, Taeil and Haechan were successful with the door and when everyone entered the next room, Yujin noticed that the door looked like it had offended someone's mother and received a heavy punishment for it afterwards.
Jisung guided them through some quiet and dark hallways and storage spaces before finally stopping in front of yet another door.
"This door takes you outside", he told them, nodding towards the heavy steel door. "It's on the side of the building that no one really uses, so it should be safe."
"What about the others?" Haechan asked quietly from Taeil. "I know that we had a plan but should one of us go find them anyway?"
"The others?" Yujin repeated. Haechan avoided her eyes so she grabbed Taeil's arm. "Who else is here?"
Taeil gave Haechan a look. "It's nothing", he answered to Yujin through his teeth while still glaring at Haechan who mouthed an apology to him.
"Where did the others go?" Jisung asked and glanced behind them as if the rest of the group would appear from the hallways.
"They went to check the upper floors", Taeil said. "But we'll meet them back at the apartment later, so - "
"Jeno is there, isn't he?" Yujin guessed. She had known that it was weird that he wasn't a part of her rescue party but she had hoped that there would've been some other explanation for it.
She could find the confirmation from Chenle's eyes.
Taeil sighed. "We're going now, okay? We have a plan and we need to follow it through."
Dread nestled in Yujin's soul. "But - "
"No. We're going now", Taeil interrupted her. "That's what we agreed to do beforehand."
Yujin defied his stern eyes for a moment before giving up. She wouldn't be of any help on her own and she couldn't change Taeil's mind about the situation.
Haechan opened the door and they filed outside to the cool night. It was dark and rather quiet - they must've been in the outskirts of Seoul. Jisung, however, didn't exit the building.
"Come on", Chenle spoke to him, motioning for him to follow them outside. "We have to get going before the poachers find us."
Jisung shook his head. "You don't have to take me in", he glanced at Yujin, "I only helped her because she helped me the last time."
"You don't have to come with us if you don't want to but you shouldn't stay with the poachers either", Haechan pointed out. Taeil nodded.
Yujin remembered her drunken conversation with the young doubler. He didn't have a family. Where could he go?
"You can come with us for now and decide later what you want to do", she suggested, hoping that it would work. She didn't want anyone to hurt the poor kid.
Jisung wasn't convinced. "I've already caused enough trouble. It would only put your pack in danger."
Chenle clicked his tongue. "We're in danger already."
"And that danger grows every second we stay here", Taeil reminded them, looking around. No one besides them was in the empty parking lot but that didn't mean that they'd be safe there for long.
