I defeated him. But why do I feel like this? Like I made a mistake. Regretting it all. Why? I don't understand. I opened my eyes slightly and saw nothing but the same surroundings, glass, and concrete everywhere. I heard distant voices, but saw no one. They are here for someone else. I looked forward, I was mad, he took my family away from me. How else was I supposed to act?
The voices got closer, as they searched for me. I messed up. I hurt everyone. Including myself. It’s not what I wanted. Or is it? I wanted to destroy the overlord, and I killed him. But at what price. Was I prepared? “Aiden?” a familiar voice called out to me. “Aiden, are you around here?” I wanted to get up but couldn’t. My body was numb. “He-” I cut off, whispering, trying to say here. I need to reach out to them. Suddenly a bright light blinded me. This is it. Either they found me or it’s the...
My eyes closed, as I lay there resting. Suddenly, I had the urge to move. To get up, and not give up. My arms slowly reached for the ground, to lift myself up, slowly my legs grew the power to allow me to stand up. Once I got up, I blocked the light from my eyes. Looking up, I could tell it was light. I cleared my throat, and yelled, "H-hey!" The light slowly moving away quickly shifted back towards me.
I saw a glare of light shine bright and move away from my eyes, why are you not answering?! I thought you'd always be there… "Aiden!" I look above me, and see a figure falling down towards me. "Aiden! Is that you?" I quickly realize someone is falling, and try to cast a spell. "Safe land…" I froze, did I forget the spell? "D-ark mage…" what's happening? I slowly got up, but was about to fall, when the person grabbed me. "Aiden, are you okay?" I shook my head, trying to keep myself up, "Y-yeah… I-I'm fine." I looked at the person, all I could see were those beautiful dark purple eyes. "Kaida…" I said.
"Yes it's me. Now let's get you out." I hugged her, "I… I failed…" She was surprised, and hugged me back, "No you didn't. The Overlord is gone." I look at her, "not forever. He'll be back." She stopped hugging me, "What do you mean?" I tried to hold myself up, "I killed him for revenge, repeating the cycle. This comes with a price. He was giving me another option. And I didnt take it. I should have taken it."
She was looking at me, "Aiden, I'm sorry for this." I looked at her, "What?" Then I fell down. Getting knocked out.
"Aiden, I believe you made the right choice." I opened my eyes immediately, seeing Kaida and Cayden standing before me. "Right choice?" Cayden smiled, "Well, you decided to have Kaida join us after all. I know you could have won that fight. But you lost on purpose." No, no I didn't. I was trying. "Meaning you made the right choice. So that she can train with us and fight alongside us."
"This isn't real." They both looked at me. I closed my eyes. It's another vision, or maybe a dream. But it's fake. He's gone already. I opened them and saw Kaida sitting on a bed I was laying down at. "I am pretty sure I am one hundred percent real." I smiled, "Yeah. How long was I out?" She put two fingers out. "Years? Months? Weeks? Days? Hours?" She smiled and laughed a little, "Hours." I smiled, "I feel better. Like I can just get up and not feel pain." She shook her head.
"You are all fixed up. As they say." I got up, "Well, what can we do?" She also got up and went to the door, "We keep going forward, without staying behind." She is telling me to leave the past in the past. "Sounds like a good idea. I think we should go back home." She smiled, "But first…" she stopped and turned to face me at the door, "Hi, my name is Kaida." I smiled, "Nice to meet you Kaida. My name is Aiden Stone."
