Fate: Trial Of The Past

What Happened

"Aiden." A distant voice was calling to me. But I couldn't see the person who said my name. All I could see was Cayden and the Overlord. Fighting, over and over again. "Aiden!" I felt a stinging pain. 

"Aiden!" I blinked more than once. A familiar face in front of mine. Looking deep into my eyes. Her eyes, black, almost colorless, but at the same time, like the night sky. "Aiden, are you okay?" That voice was worried about me. It was Kaida. "Yeah, yeah. I-I'm fine."

"Where are we?" I asked, knowing that everyone was as lost as I was. I inspected the surroundings, searching for clues. There were tall towers everywhere, towering over us as it was their job to do so. The towers had a sad gloomy theme. Fire almost dead, in some areas, and the sky. It was filled with a thick layer of grey clouds, with so little space for light.

"Aiden, we can talk about what happened." Amelia had sat down on some old bench. "That is if you want to talk about it." I wanted to talk, but I couldn't say the words. Every word I tried to say was just another image of Cayden. "I…" I paused, all I could remember was Cayden.

"Aiden, we all feel upset. But we have to keep moving forward." Asher tossed a rock in one of the towers, breaking something inside. "Cayden di…" I still couldn't get the words out of my mouth. I don't believe this. He's not dead. He can't be. "No, no, he, he's alive. I'm sure he is."

"It's okay to accept it, Aiden." Amelia approached me for a hug. "But, he's the only family I have." I was finally able to say something. Finally breaking my silence.

Cayden was fighting the Overlord, was he successful in defeating him? No, it's not something I want to say, "Why did he send us here?" I looked at everyone. "We could have helped. He could have lived." I wanted to do something. But now it's too late.
