I ran and caught up with him, he seemed so focused on his mission. "Cayden?" I asked looking at him, "Kid you let everything misguide you. Try to see what's real, and separate it from the lies. Like this." He pointed to a city with life, "The Overlord won, but why are they living in peace, without any fear. Have you truly woken?" Woken?
I looked at Cayden confused, following him, "What?" He turned around to see me, "Would I really be here right now. Even after I died? The Overlord killed me didn't he? Are you dreaming all of this? Tell me, are you going to keep sleeping? Wake up!" I looked at him confused, "Cayden I don't understand." He walked up to me, "Its time you wake up. And see the world again." He hit my forehead, I closed my eyes, flinching, and once I opened them, I saw it. The one thing I feared.
"Aiden! Promise me you'll win?" Cayden asked me, as he was holding the overlord back, "I-I promise! I'll wi..." I stopped talking as I saw the Overlord going for a kill, "Cayden! Lookout!" He stabbed him, in the chest, my eyes were wide open, "Cayden! No! Fight him!" Cayden made us go through the portal, I couldn't fight his magic, it was different than usual, "Don't do this! Please! I can't make it without you!"
He looked back at me and smiled, "Be brave brother..." he whispered, as his body collapsed, the Overlord making his way to us. "Please, you're the only one I have left! My only family!" Kaida was holding onto to me, afraid to see what had happened to Cayden. The portal closed, and we were left stranded in an unknown place. "He..." I couldn't speak.
Tears came down my eyes, "Cayden! Why did you..." I tried to yell, "Lose." I fell to my knees, Kaida still close to me, "I-I..." I looked down, why did you leave us. You faught alone and didn't allow us to join. But why? What were you thinking? "Aiden?" I wasn't prepared to say goodbye. I never even said it! Why did you have to fight alone! The tears ran down my face, "Cayden, why did you fight alone..." my voice was giving up on me.
"Aiden." Kaida called me, as she went on her knees and sat next to me, holding me. "I'm not" I paused to look at Kaida, "ready to take on the world without him." I hugged her, closed my eyes, all of a sudden, I felt an emptiness inside me, one I had never felt before. Similar to the one my parents left, only bigger. I didn't want to move, or say anything, I just wanted to see my brother again. One last time.
"Aiden, we should find some place to stay at." Amelia was trying to get my mind off of what just happened. "I never said goodbye" I started to break down, feeling the hole getting bigger by the second. I slowly reached in my pocket, and found a paper, holding what seemed to be some sort of magic image, it was of Cayden, he was waving. Is this your goodbye? Or your hello? "Rest easy, dad." I put the image back in my pocket, and stood up, helping Kaida stand up.
"I'm sorry you had to..." I put my hand up, "No, it's no one's fault. He wanted this. He has a plan. I just need to find out what that is." I took a deep breath as I looked at my team. "Let's travel together, from now on..." i paused, I'm their leader now. Officially. "I'm the leader." I looked up and smiled, I'll smile, because I know you'll guide me.
