Chapter 35 - Caroline

I'm looking at the two paint colors I painted on the nursery wall when I hear Klaus. "Love, you have painted this room about three times, it's good."

I turn towards him, "I found two more colors I liked, I want it to be perfect Klaus."

"I don't think she will notice."

"I will! When I look back at pictures I will notice the wall color!" I explain.

"I believe Miss Forbes made her point." I hear Elijah say from the bedroom doorway.

Klaus puts is hands up, like he normally does when he knows he won't change my mind. "Okay love, what color have you chosen for us to paint it this time?"

Klaus and I have been on a friendly term for the most part for the last few months. I believe we have come to an understanding, I'm not leaving and he has to deal with it, mainly, but also we have become more friends. It's nice to be able to let my guard down infront of him.

"I can't decide." I say and sit back in the rocking chair. I put my hand on my stomach that feels like it's tripled in the last month. I was told I'm about seven and half months now. She can come any day. Now I'm not looking forward to labor but being a vampire should help in that favor.

"How about we take you out Miss Forbes? It will be here when we get back." Elijah says.

"Excellent idea Elijah!" Klaus claps his hands and holds a hand out for me.

I smile and take Klaus's hand. He helps me up from the chair and once I'm stable I say, "I would like that. Let me change quick." They both nod their heads and leave the room. Quickly I change into a simple sundress, flats, and a hat. Putting light makeup on I walk out to meet both brothers smiling. "What?" I question.

"Nothing, love." Klaus says and extends an arm for me to take. As always I take his offer and we walk down the stairs and out the gate. Elijah on my other side. We reach Sophie's Bar after a few minutes. Elijah opens the door and Klaus lets me go first and as I do I hear "Happy Babyshower!"

I am exhausted! I can't believe the boys surprised me, I had no idea. It was a wonderful day, I even have a black mail picture of Elijah trying to put a dipper on a doll blindfolded. Such a good day. I am currently relaxing on my bed, my feet have been so swollen and I can only be on them for long. When we got back I made the boys re-paint the nursery a pastel pink. I believe that one will be the one, hopefully I don't change my mind again, I don't think Elijah and Klaus will re-paint that one again. Even if I cried. Looking at the clock I realize it is ten minutes past midnight. As quick as I can I slip on a sweatshirt and my sleepers. I walk down the stairs and head straight for the kitchen knowing that Klaus would be waiting.

Turning the corner sure enough Klaus is sitting at the island, when he hears me he turns his head and smiles. "Ice cream love?"

I walk over and sit infront of a bowl of rocky road ice cream. "Looks good!" I take a spoon and start to dig in. We eat in silence, typical, till Klaus speaks up.

"Did you enjoy your surprise today?"

"Yes it was wonderful, thank you. I can't believe you and Elijah kept it so well from me. From me!" I begin to laugh.

"Oh yes how did we ever get a fast one over on Miss Mystic Falls, the Queen of planning." He chuckles and looks at me.

"That seems like a life time ago now," I say, I stand and bring my bowl to the sink. "You didn't do the planning did you?" I turn and ask Klaus.
