Lennon had safe guarded the house and surrounding area. She consulted whatever it is she used to check to see if she was getting any new glimpses into the future they were heading towards but stubbornly refused to say other than if it was good or bad. She slept in a spare bedroom on the first floor with guards watching for her to enter and exit. Guard duty was increased around the house to prevent any stealth attacks and he was pacing in the library with pent up energy. He had agreed to relinquish soul sorting duty again to remain within the wards that had been placed and it was putting his teeth on edge. He met with his soldiers twice a day, learning that the men were getting anxious waiting for whatever was coming to get there.
He was making another round of pacing when an explosion rocked the house sending him sprawling onto the floor. He jumped back to his feet, his wings rocketing outward from their hiding spot. It was happening and he didn't know where Nila was. He rushed from the room in a panic trying to find her. He met her on the staircase, wrapping her in a hug and ensuring himself that she was not injured. He went to a window and peered out to see a large legion of demons and the like standing on the perimeter of the wards. He exited the house, extending his wings out fully as his eyes started to glow with the anger coursing through his veins at their appearance.
"What do you want?"
"We are here to claim the throne in name of Siera, the rightful owner of the throne. We will remove you and that bitch you married so that she can raise up and reclaim her throne."
"I am Lucifer, King of Hell and decider of fates. You dare choose another's side? I can do no other than allow you to see the error in your decision. SOLDIERS AT THE READY!!!"
Soldiers appeared all around with their weapons ready. The groups appeared evenly matched, even the soldiers from the pits were present and in a ready stance to defend their king. Nila stood at the ready at the door of the house, having agreed to remain inside to protect the staff. The battle that ensued was short but bloody. He tore through forces with the vengence of a thousand men as he watched his men fall all over again. He roared with anger as he let it consume him and heat him to the bone as he grabbed the closest enemy, hurdling pieces at others as he tore through more forces. A yell drew his attention right as a force nailed him in the chest. He heard screaming as he landed on his back, pain shooting through him as he landed on his wings. He waited for the pain to swamp him, realizing the only other thing he felt was a weight on top of him. Rolling the weight off him, he peered down into the face of the soldier he had felt a bad feeling about staring blankly into the void. A roar tore through him, echoing through the realm and bringing the battle to a dead stop. Soldiers posed with weapons raised as the roar slowly died from his lips as he lifted the young soldier into his arms. The feeling of failure seeped into his heart as he stared down at the man. He had failed again and this man had paid the price for it. A single tear ran down his cheek as he pressed his hand to the man's chest, whispering for his soul to find peace in his afterlife. He slowly stood, his eyes glowing brightly as he eyed the enemy. The battle would end even if he had to tear each one apart himself.
Soldiers from both sides began to throw their weapons to the ground, kneeling before him with their heads bowed as his eyes swept over the remaining soldiers as he slowly lost the ability to tell the difference between friend and foe. He felt the rage explode out of him as soldiers dropped to the ground to prevent from being a casualty. The remaining enemy soldiers tried to turn and flee from the monster he had become only for him to launch himself at them as they ran. What felt like hours was only a few moments before he was regaining his self awareness, grief overtaking the rage he had felt as he peered around at the men giving him leery glances as they contained the remaining men that had surrendered. He had lost control of himself and turned into the demon he had always been told he would end up to be.
He peered over at the house at Nila staring at him from the door. He saw nothing but a mask on her face as she slowly stepped from the doorway towards him. He could not face her after what he had done. He knew she was accepted as the queen of the realm so he smiled weakly at her before turning to take a running jump, his wings flapping weakly to take him away. She would not want a monster for a husband and he could not survive the rejection.
