Nila paced the house restlessly, unsure what to do with herself. It had been weeks since Lucifer had taken off and she was at a loss on what to do. Lennon had done her best to try to track him down, unable to figure out where he had gone. She felt the loss in the center of her chest at not being able to locate him. Soldiers took turns searching areas in the realm, morale running low at his disappearance. She rubbed her stomach at the flutters she felt. She had found out shortly after his disappearance that she was with child, a milestone she never thought she would see. They needed to find him soon or he would miss out on how much he was truly loved here. The cottages she had been put in charge of building had been completed but the staff refused to move in until he was back home safely.
Lennon walked over to her with a cup of mint tea in her hand for her to drink. She smiled gratefully at the offer, shaking her head when it was offered. She could hardly eat or drink with worry and the sickness that had over run her life. Morning sickness they had called it. Lennon stood quietly near her, waiting for her attention to turn back to her. She took her hand and placed the cup into her hands before smiling weakly at her before turning to head back to wherever she hid away at. She took a sip before setting the cup down, staring blankly out the window. Foot steps hurried toward her from the stairs as she continued to stare out the window at the waning light. A throat cleared behind her, getting her attention as she turned to eye Ezekiel speculatively.
"What is it?"
"We found him. He is in bad shape and we had to knock him out to get him to the hospital and hes liable to be pissed when he comes to. I think it best you be there when he does wake. Even with how bad a shape he was in he had a lot of fight in him."
"Well what are you waiting for? Let's go!"
She rushed after him towards the front of the house. She rode in anxious silence as they made their way to the hospital. The staff showed them in as soon as they entered. She rushed into the room they led her to only to stop short at the sight that greeted her. Lucifer was asleep with a grimace of pain on his face and chains holding him to the bed. She eyed the nurse with a glare before Ezekiel whispered something, the nurse nodding and leaving the room. He led her to a chair, sitting her down before sitting in another.
"Nila listen carefully before you attack any of the staff unjustly. When we brought him in here, he was not a willing participant as I have told you. He did some damage when he realized what was happening so these chains are the only thing that is preventing him from hurting himself or any of the staff. He was emaciated and dehydrated when we got him in here. They are feeding him fluids and nutrients but even with his high rate of healing, he has yet to finish healing. Until he is back fully with us those chains need to stay in place. Look at his finger and see your mark on it. No matter what he was doing to himself, he still held his love for you close to himself. Hopefully when he sees you, it'll snap him out of whatever is going on in his head."
"I... I don't understand why he left us. I will leave the chains on. How long has he been out?"
"They had to sedate him with some heavy meds to keep him under so my guess is he will be coming to soon. Keep a safe distance until he realizes it is you. I will be outside speaking to his care team so if you need help just yell."
"Ok."
She sat in the chair as he left the room. She inched closer to the bed, refusing to believe he would hurt her even in a delusional state. She held his hand whispering to him as she rubbed her thumb across his rough hand as she did. His eyes fluttered open, drawing a gasp from her at the red rimmed irises. His eyes drifted around him in a daze before settling on her. Recognition was slow as it seeped into his eyes, a tear slipping from his eye as he closed them, turning his head away. Her heart clenched painfully in her chest as she stood slowly and placing her hand against his cheek to turn his head back to her. His eyes opened again, drinking her in as she looked him in the eye. She lowered her mouth to his, kissing his lips gently. His voice came out in a hoarse whisper as she drew back to look at him again.
"You shouldn't be here. I have done nothing to deserve you here."
"You have done nothing to not deserve me here. Why would you believe otherwise?"
"I am a monster."
"No you are not Lucifer. You are the king of hell, my husband and the father of the child I carry. Nothing you have done will ever change that."
"Fat... Father?"
His eyes lowered to the small mound where her less than perfect stomach had been. She hadn't been unfit but she hadn't had a perfect figure either. He attempted to reach out to run a hand over the soft mound, the clink of chains stopping him short. He looked at the chains in confusion as she walked to the door to motion to Ezekiel to enter.
"Lucifer himself has returned has he? More than I could have hoped for when he could not even recognize me. Hold tight and we will remove the chains."
He exited the room, returning shortly after with staff to assist in removing the chains holding him down. He sat up slowly, rubbing his hands down his arms as he eyed her from the bed. He swung his legs from the bed, standing and walking to her slowly. He did not seem to notice he was naked as the day he was born as he stopped in front of her to reach his hand out slowly to place it against the soft mound in fascination. The color of his eyes slowly turned back to normal as he rubbed slowly, transfixed by the small rounded belly she now sported. A throat cleared, catching his attention as he turned towards the sound. Ezekiel held out a pair of sweats to him with his eyes averted elsewhere. He slipped into the sweats before pulling her towards a recliner, sitting and pulling her down into the chair with him. He nuzzled her neck, holding onto her with a tight grip and whispering.
"I thought I had lost you when I turned into the monster I was always told I would end up being."
"You are no more a monster than the rest of us Lucifer. You have been gone so long and everyone has felt the loss. You have been truly missed."
"The soldiers were looking at me as if I would tear them apart."
"Yes I am sure they were at the time. They have been spending all this time searching for you. Before you say it was because I asked, I didn't. They started it themselves. They need you home Lucifer, I need you home."
"Home sounds like a wonderful idea. When can I get out of here Ezekiel?"
"I will go find out. Although, I am sure if you wish to leave they won't very well stop their king from leaving."
A small smile curved his lips as his second left the room to talk with the care team again. She breathed his scent in, missing the spice of his skin. He held onto her tightly against his bare chest as they sat in silence. She felt relief enter her as her eyes drooped closed of their own accord, finally feeling relaxed enough to slumber. When she awoke again, she was in bed with Lucifer asleep next to her. She smiled at the peace on his face. She left the bed, searching out food for the first time. Lennon was in the kitchen with a small smile on her face as she noticed her entering. She gestured to a chair with a plate of food sitting in front of it.
"All is complete now. It is time I take my leave of this place to continue on my journey. I would like to leave you with a word of wisdom. Pick a new kitchen, I fear you will be rebuilding this one in the near future."
Before she could reply, a flash burst infront of her and Lennon was gone. She peered around herself, realizing that she was truly gone before peering at the food on her plate. A smile curved her lips as she realized that it was a plate full of cheese, meat slices and crackers. She sent a silent thank you out to wherever Lennon had gone to as she picked up the plate to head back to bed. Life was complete now that Lucifer was back after so long. Lights caught her attention, a larger smile taking over as she realized that the staff cottages were lit up. With all the ups and downs, life truly worked out well. She rubbed her belly as she continued onward. Soon they would have a family and she couldn't be happier.

Several years later
"Grab him Lucifer!"
"I'm trying to grab him!"
Laughter burst from her throat as she grabbed a fire extinguisher to put out the small fire their son had started. His giggles melted her heart as she peered speculatively at the damage that was done. They were going to have to replace the cupboards and the microwave at least. There were scorch marks on the floor as she heard Lucifer chuckling behind her. She eyed him with annoyance as he held his free hand up in defeat. Having the son of Lucifer was hard work when he decided to light things on fire. Kale giggled again as he clapped his hands with amusement. They were going to have to fire proof the house with their little demon running around now. She smiled at his laughter, at least she had something to embarrass him when he was of dating age. Life could not be better.
