He watched her turn on her heels, stomping towards the doors of the library. He planted a soft kiss to the top of Nila's head as Seira turned her head to him. The warrior in his lap growled fiercely as his ex opened her mouth to give him parting words he was sure would send ice down his spine.
"I will have my throne back Lucifer, regardless of whether you are willing to give it back or not. Mark my words, I will be back."
"No Seira, you won't be. If you set one foot into this house again without invitation I will personally see to it that you are dragged to the very pits of my domain. I will have you left there to fight your own way out and if you still attempt to take from me what doesn't belong to you, I will have you chained in the fire pits for your disrespect."
He felt the familiar rage begin to boil up from his belly as he slowly stood up away from Nila as his eyes turned crimson and his black feathered wings unfolded from his back. His voice turned guttural as he echoed his threat throughout the house. Her face drained of color, leaving behind the make up she wore in excess. She turned and bolted from the room, the sound of her feet slapping against the stone floors echoing back to his ears as he attempted to regain control of his rage. He surely had scared Nila into not wanting to stay. He was startled when he felt her small hand wrap itself around his, lacing fingers through his as she peered up at him with her beautiful eyes. He saw no fear in her eyes as she smiled tentatively up at him. As if a prayer had been answered, his rage slowly drained from him, his eyes turning back and his wings folding back into hiding as he brought her knuckles to his lips.
He led her silently from the room, heading towards the kitchen. He felt the familiar hunger he got after his rage took over eating away at his stomach. They sat down in the kitchen to eat some lunch as he looked at her with appreciation. As she chatted away with the kitchen staff his thoughts went back to the encounter with his ex. As the king of hell, he had expected complications but none like this. The damn woman had left him for christ's sake! She had been angry at him he remembered. She wanted to move to the next step with him and he refused. He remembered the feeling of dread he had felt when she had asked him one night about their future. After that, he hadn't even wanted to lay with her for fear of what she would do. He immersed himself into his work until he was exhausted and then he would sleep on the hidden pull out bed he kept in the library, making the excuse that he had come in late and didn't want to wake her. He had known he didn't want to be tied to her for eternity and had told her he did not want that kind of commitment which he had thought she had understood. When he had come home early one day, he had found her in his bed with the other man. He remembered the startled look on her face as his anger had took over that day. He shuddered as he remembered the sick smile she had gotten as she told him it was just as well he found out as she was leaving with him that day and would need her things sent over. She had used the excuse that he wasn't afraid of commitment like he had been.
He had felt like it was only fair that she move on with someone who wanted her. He felt like a knife had been twisted in his gut the last time she had contacted him. She claimed she was with child and that it was his. When he questioned her she had gotten furious at him. He remembered telling her that she would have to be ready to pop for it to be his as he hadn't laid with her in at least that long. Anything he had felt for her had left him as his blood ran cold when she stated that she didn't know what he was talking about. They had laid together regularly, she stated and didn't know why she was being questioned. When he had stated he remembered the last time and that it was far from regular, she had hung up on him in a rage that could have rivaled his own. He found himself wondering what happened with that situation. He peered across the table at his warrior's happy giggle at something that had been said.
He had always respected his staff but with her they seemed almost like family now. They took extra time to sit down with her to teach her to do things while he was away and genuinely seemed to like her presence. He thought of what it would be like to have her here for eternity and share his life with her. He could imagine having a life with her for eternity, sharing his home and having children to chase after. He imagined teaching his sons how to do things and kissing tears away from his daughters. They would be fighters like their mother he imagined. A smile broke out as he realized he could truly see a future with this warrior woman of his. The centuries he had waited seemed to pale in comparison to the short time he had spent with her. His energy was back to full strength just by being near her for a short time. He prayed with his very soul that she would choose to stay at his side like he had never prayed before in his life.
