A World of His Own

Chapter 14

[Remembering]

"Your uncle is dead. He's been dead for a long time, how could you not know?"

Taehyung wakes up from his terrible dream. He quickly realises he is still on the boat, floating around in the middle of a lake.

"Taehyung-ah, return quick! We're having dinner!"

Someone yells from afar. He can't see who but it sounds a lot like Namjoon. Taehyung paddles as best and as fast as he can.

"Yes hyung, I'm coming!" Taehyung yells back as he continues paddling.

He thought he would be better off without knowing. Without remembering. But he was wrong. Not trying to find out the truth would only make him doubt more, he does not want to be haunted by his past, he needs to find out the truth.

There are several things that he can do to make him remember.

One; he should meditate and tries his best to retrace his memory.

Or two; he should go back home to his house in Daegu and look for his childhood diary and read his memory.

Either way, he knows he needs to find out the truth. Of course, he is scared of finding out, but he is more terrified of not knowing.

He parks his small boat at the side of the river and joins the rest of the members for dinner.

"Taehyung, come on, sit down. We're making your favorite seafood ramyeon," cheers Jimin. He drags Taehyung and let him sit in between him and Jungkook. The maknae line is always together.

"Yeay!! Delicious!" Taehyung cheers happily as he digs in to the pot and takes some for hinself.

The feast goes on for a while when suddenly Taehyung's right palm accidentally brushes the hot pot infront of him. He flinches and hisses in pain, immediately pulls his hand closer to his chest and rubs it gently.

Hoseok is the first person that saw what has happened and is now pointing at Taehyung while laughing at him.

"Be careful Tae, you don't want to burn yourself," laughs Hoseok.

Taehyung laughs it off at first, thinking how silly and clumsy he can be at times. It is okay to laugh at yourself sometimes, to pull joy out of your own shortcoming, to make fun of it as if it's not the most important thing in life.

"Let me see, did you burn your hand Taebear?" Jungkook asks as he checks Taehyung's palm.

"No kook-ah, it's fine."

"Be careful next time, if not, you'll get burn for real," says Jimin with face filled with concern this time.

Taehyung should feel guilty for making Jimin worried, but weirdly, he does not feel any of that. Instead he feels loved and protected. He should also feel selfish for thinking that way, but instead he feels the desire of wanting more of the attention. Like a kid towards their parents.
