Emerald Anniversary

Third Person's POV

We start in Area 99 as a door opens and the President's Third Aide enters the research and development room "It's very impressive, isn't it?" A scientist asks "That's it?" The P.T.A asks as a new robot design is shown "Project Beetle is only a prototype, of course, based on our analysis of Dr. Eggman's technology. But if all goes as planned, we'll soon have our own working robot" The scientist said "The President considers this project to be a national priority" The P.T.A said "We won't let him down" the scientist said.

*Meanwhile at Station Square*

Topaz is sitting on a bench, drinking coffee. Rouge is in a tree behins her, looking at jewels in a shop window through her Jewel Scope "What a fabulous display... I wish I had a rock collection like that" Rouge said "You're a thief!" Topaz said "I haven't stolen them yet, Topaz" Rouge said "So... Then you are planning a robbery, aren't you?" Topaz asks "Excuse me, could somebody get the police and tell them there's a thief hiding back here?" Topaz asks louder and the pedestrians stop and stare at her, causing Rouge to duck back into the tree. She cautiously pokes her head back out "I know why you're so passive-agressive towards me. You're jealous of me because I'm the glamorous team member" Rouge said "If you think I'm the least bit jealous of you, then you really are bats" Topaz said and looks up to see a stretch limo pull up in front of the jewelry shop. Several security personnel get out. One of them holds the door open for Nelson Thorndyke to leave the vehicle "That's Nelson Thorndyke! The computer mogul?! What a hunk!" People in a crowd said as Rouge and Topaz blink in surprise. As Nelson enters the shop, the other personnel stand at either side of him to hold back the crowd. A man and a woman run the shop "Good morning!" The man and woman said "Hello" Nelson said "Thank you for visiting our store, Mr. Thorndyke. Is there something we can help you find today?" The man asks "Yes, I'm shopping for an anniversary present for my wife" Nelson said "You've come to the right place, sir! We've got a full line of matrimonial momentos guaranteed to make every anniversary golden!" The man said and looks around the shop, then walks toward a covered object near the back of the store "What's under there?" Nelson asks "You have exquisite taste, sir. This item was acquired recently, and it's truly one-of-a-kind!" The man said and removes the cloth, revealing the purple Chaos Emerald. It is bright enough for Nelson to shield his eyes. Topaz and Rouge, who have been looking on, are shocked "It's a perfect gift. That's it!" Nelson said and thinks of Lindsey wearing the Chaos Emerald as a ring "Lindsey is simply wild about jewelry" Nelson said "How long will it take to have the ring ready?" He asks "But... isn't that gem a tad large for a ring?" The man asks "My wife definitely like flashy jewelry. It's our wedding anniversary, and I want to get her something special" Nelson said crossing his arms "I can't wait to see Lindsey's face when I slip it on her finger. Her birthday's coming up. I'll tell ya what. Give me a couple of diamonds too" He said winking "Um, sure!" The man said sweatdroping. Soon the purchase is made, and Nelson leaves the store "Thank you very much, Mr. Thorndyke. Please feel free to stop by our store any time!" The man and woman said and as Nelson heads back to the limo, Topaz and Rouge glance at each other.

*Later at the Thorndyke mansion*

Tanaka is on the phone "Hello. This is the Thorndyke residence" Tanaka said "Hi there, Tanaka. How's everything going at home?" Nelson asks on the phone when Chris, Tails, Turbo, Amy, Cream, and Cheese head down the stairs "Everyone is doing very well here, Mr. Thorndyke" Tanaka said bowing and covers the mouthpiece "Mr. Chris, I have Mr. Thorndyke on the line for you" Tanaka said "Ah, cool!" Chris said and runs over to the phone "Hold on! I thought Chuck was here!" Tails said "He is" Amy said and Chris takes the phone from Tanaka, who steps aside "Thank you" Chris said "Hey there! How's it going, Dad? ... Are you calling from the office or are you travelling?" Chris asks "Chris' father is the Mr. Thorndyke on the phone. If it was Chuck, he'd say "Hello, Grandpa."" Amy said "Right. It is Mr. Nelson Thorndyke" Tanaka said "You see? I'm right" Amy said "Yeah, now it's clear" Tails said rolling his eyes "She's not here. Mom is in Filmdom City acting for a movie. If you need to reach her, you can call her at the studio, though. ... O-Okay, I'll be there" Chris said.
