Defective Detectives

Third Person's POV

We start in Station Square as Big is lying in the grass as the confetti falls in celebration of the events of the last chapter "Hey. Froggy. It sure is a nice day" Big said and opens his eyes and sees a large burst in the sky: Chaos Control "That's pretty..." Big said.

Elsewhere, an elderly couple are washing dishes when suddenly the house shakes. It is revealed that a small house has landed on top of their house.

Meanwhile at the White House, Chuck and Chris are in the Oval Office with the President, Christina Cooper, and a guard. The screen behind Christina displays several small houses like the one that crashed in the house "There have been five more confirmed reports, Mr. President. It seems that most of the buildings have landed in parts of the city closest to Mystic Ruin" Christina said "Great. And what about all the creatures they found inside?" The president asks and the screen now shows several animals from Sonic and Brody's world. A Flicky is front and center "The name of this bird is Flicky" Christina said "Flicky and the others are from the same world as Sonic and Brody?" The president asks "Yep. It would appear that way" Christina said "I see. Now then, I'm sure you must be wondering why I asked for you and your grandson here this afternoon" The president said "You're worried about the arrival of these creatures. You're thinking you need to separate them from humans. You're concerned there'll be trouble between two such different species unless they're... dealt with" Chuck said and the TV turns off "We wish we didn't have to. It's just-" Christina said "Don't apologize" Chuck said and Christina looks up "We understand your situation completely" Chuck said but Chris looks depressed.

At Station Square, Knuckles, Ralph and Rouge are atop a building, looking down at the city "Have you heard? A couple more friends from back home dropped in. Seems every day is like a regular reunion around here. 'Course, if too many of us start showing up, the humans aren't gonna be too happy. They'll probably decide we're dangerous and round us all up" Rouge said "Heh imagine us... together" Ralph said and approaches Knuckles "24/7... My, I wonder that'd be like, don't you?" Ralph asks and Knuckles blushes "Ralph!" Knuckles said "Hehe don't get so excited, sweetie" Ralph said "Besides, I'm only saying that the authorities won't like our kind around. Believe me, I don't like the idea of being locked up any more than you two do. ... I should have realized that the welcome mat wouldn't be out forever" Rouge said "Yeah. Too good to be true. One day they love us because we're unique, and the next day we're in jail because we're different. Well, they won't take me without a fight" Knuckles said "Now that's the right attitude. Oh well, we'll just have to make the best of it" Rouge said and walks to the other side of Knuckles "When they come to get us, I hope you're around to protect me. Bye boys" Rouge said and flies away "Hey Knuckles you know what" Ralph said "What?" Knuckles asks "Hope we get comfy if we share a cell" Ralph said and Knuckles blushes more "Stop saying that so casually!" Knuckles said and Ralph chuckles.

That night, Chris is at the pier, looking out at the ocean. Many thoughts are in his head. Chuck is standing by the car nearby "Don't know about you, Chris, but I'm pretty hungry. Why don't we go home and have a little of Ella's--" Chuck said "Grandpa? ... I've been thinking... about what the President said?... Do you really think they're gonna... take Sonic and Brody away?" Chris asks and Chuck walks over to Chris and places a hand on his shoulder "Chris" Chuck said "I mean... they're different, but why should that matter? Deep down, they're just like you and me" Chris said "I know... I know..." Chuck said and they look at the ocean together.

In a building near the pier, a Mobian crocodile is growing impatient "Leave it to Charmy to take his own sweet time gettin' here!" Vector said and a Mobian chameleon, Espio by name, answers "I'd say we've got more important things to worry about. Like where we are, for instance, and how did the the three of us get here in the first place, and how do we get back" Espio said "Your guess is as good as mine, Espio. I'm just as confused as you are. Did we travel through time somehow? Or space, maybe?" Vector asks "Which one do you think happened?" Espio asks "What difference does it make? All that matters is that we're stuck here! And since we're stuck here, we ought to concentrate on a bigger question" Vector said "What's that?" Espio asks "Why is half of the moon missing?!" Vector asks and just then Charmy bursts into the cabin "Hey! Wait'll you hear, Vector!" Charmy said and the Mobian bee flies onto Vector's snout "You won't believe it in a million trillion years!" Charmy said "What won't I believe?" Vector asks "We got blown to a whole different world!" Charmy said and holds up a newspaper "And the proof's right here in this newspaper!" Charmy said "Charmy..." Vector said "See?" Charmy asks "Charmy!" Vector said "Uh-huh?" Charmy asks "Will. You. Get. Off. My. Nose?!" Vector asks and Charmy gets off of Vector "All right. Where are we, Charmy?" Espio asks "I don't know" Charmy said and Vector angrily pounds his hands on the desk "Gaaahhh! I ask you to do one simple thing!" Vector said and Charmy wags his finger at Vector "Your assignment was to find out where we are!" Vector said and Charmy props Vector's mouth open with the newspaper "That's why I've been trying to tell you to look at this" Charmy said and removes the paper "Oops, sorry" Charmy said "This better be good" Vector said "Here!" Charmy said and shows Vector the correct article, which shows an image of Sonic and Brody "What?" Vector asks and takes the newspaper from Charmy "That's Sonic and Brody! What's this? 'Our Sonic and Brody have done it again! They risked their lives to stop the ARK from falling.' What's an ARK, and what do they mean by 'they did it again?'" Vector asks and rips the newspaper in half "So Sonic and Brody are big heroes! What a laugh riot!" Vector said "You're just jealous 'cause you're not famous like Sonic and Brody are" Charmy said "Knock it off, Charmy. We'll be famous soon" Espio said "In case you're wonderin', Detective Vector's the name!" Vector said to the readers "I'm a private eye kind of guy and the head of my very own detective agency! I may be lean, mean, and green, but behind my cool croc exterior, I'm really just a big ol' softy. Just don't let that get around, you got me? I got a reputation! A detective's gotta be tough, so let's just keep this between you and me, okay?" Vector asks winking at the readers "My name's Charmy and I can be--" Charmy said to the readers but Espio appears and pushes Charmy "My name is Espio. I'm the brains of this organization. I also possess some peculiar spy skills. I'm smart. I'm quick on my feet. I also happen to be a ninja" Espio said to the readers "He's also full of himself" Charmy said and Espio huffs and walks off "It's better to be full of myself than to be an obnoxious pipsqueak" Espio said "Hey Vector, can I tell 'em about me now?" Charmy asks "Aw, too bad, Charmy; we're all out of time!" Vector said "No! Aahh!" Charmy said.
