Rare was there an outing, now classed as luxury, even when they did go, her mind still wasn't free, the promise of new places, smiles upon new faces, the neon lights, the tourist sights, yet still she wasn't free.
Restricted in exploring, limited in time, shackled to the rules, not meant to be malign, the promise of new places, smiles upon new faces, the sunny skies, clouds floating by, yet still she wasn't free.
Returning to the normal, disappointment in her mind, boredom creeping in, her spirit wasn't free, the longing of new places, smiles upon new faces, playing games, climbing frames, yet still she wasn't free.
Remembering the snapshots, of distant memories, mourning all that's never been, she needed to be free, facing fears, in higher gears, she needed to break free.

Resolving to be different, although it wasn't bad, a new approach to moving on, might stop her feeling sad.
Rerouting to have outings, now different luxuries, restricted in other ways, so still she isn't free, planning trips to places, putting smiles upon their faces, the mountain views, seas calm and blue, she's trying to be free. Redeeming chances missed before, delight at having tried, fear turns to adrenaline, to help with feeling free, zip wires, building fires, in those minutes she is free.
Replanning a kind of normal that's disappointment free, staving off the boredom, to keep the spirit free, dancing in bars, riding cable cars, those moments keep her free.
Reliving all the snapshots of these memories, still mourning all that's never been, in new found liberty, nowhere to go, your stern 'no', will she ever be set free?
