After spending a decent weekend with Geneva I headed back to Travis' place and of course in typical fashion, he has a million questions to ask.
"So how was it?" "Did y'all fuck in their bed?" "She really bought you all this stuff?" He asks with a giant grin across his face.
"Listen we had a good time and that's all you need to know." I chuckle then continue, "My mom did drop by to show her face before I left though."
"Oh word? What did she want this time?" Travis asks.
"She just wanted to be noisy and judgmental but to my surprise, Geneva shut her down with a quickness."
"That's good, so what's up next for you two?"
"Right now, we are just keeping a low profile and working out our future plans for the moment." "You gotta remember that we kinda got together under some fucked up and secretive circumstances." We both laugh.
I go into my bedroom to log into my computer and check my emails but before I can even open my inbox, Geneva is calling me.
"Hey G, what's up?"
I can hear it in her voice that she's upset about something and that she might be getting ready to cry.
"Geneva, can you hear me?" "What's wrong?" I ask.
"Me and David got into a big fight and he's starting to suspect things about me and you." "I need you to meet me at the Hilton downtown in 20 minutes, I'll explain everything when you make it here." She says while holding back tears.
"Alright I'm on my way just sit tight."
I pack a fresh overnight bag, explain to Travis where I'm going, request a Uber and make it to the hotel all in 20 minutes. As the glass elevator slowly crawls up past the first few floors, I can't help but worry about Geneva and everything that has happened between us. She an amazing woman but I'm no stranger to the fact that she's a married, devoted preacher living in a world of luxury and high standards amongst the church.
I could never blame her for the things she's going through and the journey that I've decided to take with her by getting into this relationship. However, I just want to be able to wipe away every ounce of pain that's been given to her at the hands of David.
The elevator open and I quickly make my way towards Geneva's private suite. Before I knock, I make sure to look over my shoulders to make sure no media followed me up to the floor to sneak pictures or bum rush me for a interview or pictures. I finally knock three times, Geneva opens the door and quickly pulls me inside and gives me a tender and passionate hug.
"I'm so glad you're here Cam." "Please don't leave me, I need you here with me." She says while softly crying into my shoulder.
"G, I'm not going anywhere." "I will stay as long as you need me to." I whisper to her. "But I need you to tell me what happened."
We sit down on the living room couch and she begins to explain everything that happened when David came back after his conference.
"He just got so angry, he told me that he doesn't love me anymore and I told him I couldn't care less because I felt the same way." "Then he said that he knew all about me and in in his words the "little dyke."" "I told him not to call you that and you are good to me unlike him." "That sent him further into a rage and he pushed me into a mirror, it broke then he stormed out of the bedroom into the living room screaming." She explains.
"Then you came here with the few clothes you could grab and ran for your car?" I ask while wiping away her tears.
"Yeah." "I was so afraid Cameron, he promised me before that he would never do that again."
"Again?!?!?" I ask with my voice raised. "He's done this to you before?"
Geneva simply nods then buries her head into my chest. At this point I'm boiling with anger over the fact that anybody would try and physically harm Geneva especially that piece of shit David and sadness that I never knew anything about what was going on, because Geneva hid it from me fearing that I would get upset.
She removes her shirt and I check her back for any cuts or bruises, luckily her back is fine but it is red and sore.
I automatically begin to comfort Geneva in the only way that I know how during times like this. Wrapping my arms around her waist, I bring her closer to me allowing her to snuggle deeper into the couch and hold onto me tightly. After about an hour, Geneva falls asleep which gives me a chance to rummage around the kitchen and try to make something for dinner since it's starting to become too cold and rainy to go out.
Before I know it, there's banging on the door and it causes Geneva to jump out of her deep sleep with automatic fear. We both turn to look at each other and know who's at the door. It's David and he sounds drunk as he yells for Geneva to open the door.
"Do you want me to answer it?" I ask.
"I'll answer it." She says. "Just stand with me so that I can get this off my chest and be done with this man once and for all." "Please Cameron, don't jump up and haul off on him." "You're the only support I have right now and I don't want to lose you." "Let me handle it and make it him leave."
Geneva peaks out the door and David nearly falls to the floor as soon as she quickly opens it.
"Geneva come home now, I just wanna talk to you." He says while slurring his words and reaching out to grab her wrists.
"David, we are past talking and I'm sick of giving you chance after chance to get right and do right." "Truth is, our marriage has never made me truly happy and I want a divorce." Geneva says pulling away from him.
"You wanna leave me for a damn bulldagger???" He says while pointing at me sharply. "Woman you must be crazy!"
"Shut up David! I want you to leave us alone!" "Cameron loves me and I love her, and nothing's going to change that not even your insults and threats." "Now leave, my attorneys will contact you and your attorneys in a few days."
His eyes light up with a fiery rage before he reaches out again to grab her wrist and waist. As I watch Geneva push him away and reclaim her strength, I start to angrily pace around the living room and watch David intently. I can't react the way I truly want to because David will end up on a stretcher or cold in a morgue with nothing but a toe tag on.
"Get out David!" "It's over, I want you to clean all of your stuff out of the condo and find a new place to live with one of your whores!" "If you don't, I have someone get you out of my damn house myself!" Geneva opens the door and looks at David showing him that he needs to leave. He walks out with one final message, "The entire church and press is going to know about you and that dyke over there by the end of the week!"
Geneva slams the door securing every single lock, and walks up to me to wrap her arms around me once again.
"I love you, thank you for being here with me and staying calm." She says before placing a kiss on my lips and burying her head in my shoulder.
"Please stop thanking me G, I gotta make sure you're straight and got support." I look into her eyes deeply and hold her closer to me. Time slows down as we hold each other and make promises to never leave one another. Truth is...this is the woman I was meant to have and love forever.
