I bite my lip slightly looking over a Kaiya as I ate some more appetizers. 'There will be no harm in telling him in a low voice.' I decided with a slight sigh.
"I'll tell you part of what happened that night. I want someone else to remember me and my brother... my family in case I end up dying. Mmm... or even then the two of us can help one another with our goals once we've gained enough strength of course." I explained looking at him in the eyes. 'I feel a connection to him... and I'm not lying when I think we might be helpful with one another. But now is not the time we join hands. We've only just met. Maybe that's what the vision was telling me, I would meet a new ally I can trust. Originally I just wanted someone to talk to but this has become something more beneficial than expected.' I thought.
"My twin brother... he was younger than me by a few minutes. He has dark purple hair, with ruby red eyes... he looks just like me though a guy version. My mother with her weird naming conventions gave him the name Nox, it's Latin for night it fit him very well. That day it all happen was our birthday... that night Nox was supposed to be with our parents as he had a very bad nightmare the night before. I woke up late in the middle of the night... I can't say for sure why I woke up but I heard an odd noise that scared me so I went to my parent's room to sleep with them and Nox when I heard a shattering noise in there bedroom and raced over to there room to find the room a complete mess... covered in so much blood.
"My parents on the floor bleeding telling me to run but I was frozen in place. The bed where my family should have been was a bundled mess soaking with blood and I could see blood slipping out of my parent. I never saw Nox's dead body. My father's cry broke me out of my trance and saw as the murder stabbed the blade into my father's chest. I watched him fall back to the ground his eye vacant... I can remember my parent's vacant eyes clearly my tears falling from my eyes as I locked eyes with the adult killer. ... he looked at me face covered in blood smiling a bone-chilling smile.
"I ran. I ran as fast as I could away from the killer. I had to get away like my parent cried for me to do. That was when I noticed the house was already on fire. It was quickly in a blaze it was so unnatural. But it didn't matter I raced down the stairs to the first floor to have the main entrance get blocked my flaming beams and housing. I then turned to escape out the back door... but the flames were engulfing the house too fast and right at the last remaining exit of my escape a flaming beam fell on top of me. It didn't crush me but I was trapped and felt the flames burning my lower back. I then watched as my last remaining exit was blocked by the flaming ceiling and house parts. One way or another I didn't die that night in my burning house as that man hopped. As such on my birthday I lost everything but my dog."
"Do you know who is responsible?"
"Yes... I do and when I'm able I plan on paying them back for what they've done."
"If I can I wouldn't mind helping you."
"Even if it's potentially someone from your group."
"Yes more than will. If that is the case. If it comes to it I'll come and join your group even."
"Pfff. Don't get too ahead of yourself yet how about you get to know me more before you make a real commitment like that." I chuckled with a slight smile. I felt at ease talking with him it was very enjoyable.
Kaiya and I continued talking with one another about a few different things throughout the meal I continued drinking vodka coolers till I began to feel a slight buzz. "So Kaiya I gotta ask... how old are you?"
"I turned 21 this year."
"Your only 3 years older than me then. I turned 18 this year."
"Well then tell me. What brought you to Brightton City. From what you said so far your also originally from Canlonen. But people like us don't stay around for long."
"True. I came to the city for work. My client and their family were threatened by another group so they hired me to protect them. But things have gotten complicated forcing me to rope in a few additional agents. What about you?"
"Some people from my group caused an issue. So I was sent here to clean it up. But I'm also using it as an excuse to help some kidnapped people escape"
"I see, you best be careful. I'd offer help but my mission takes top priority. Especially since how violent they can bed."
"It's bad?"
"Yeah a few months ago they busted down a major wall in the house with a beast, poisoned my client, nearly killed the client's family, and I had to blow my damn cover almost getting myself killed to drive the thing off. I'm my group I'm probably one of the few people capable of handling that situation." I signed and I reached down and grabbed my soul sword necklace, which is a silver looking metal sword-like pedant with a unique gemstone in the middle that is capable of turning into a real sword or dagger if enough mana is used.
I noticed Kaiya look down at the necklace that I was fiddling with. "That's a very pretty gem stone it makes me think of a flame." He replied.
"Thank you. Actually this necklace is one of a kind thing. In my father's family after reaching age, we get the necklace. The stone is to be a representation of the colour of my soul." I replied looking down at the necklace with a light smile, the gemstone was a mixture of red-orange and white colours.
"Is that so. Are you sure it's impossible to get a replica?"
"Yeah the metal itself is a one of a kind metal that only my father's family can get and the gemstone is even harder to come by as each member is different. This necklace is also something that validates the child to become the next head. The only other person in the last 40 years that should have a necklace similar is my father."
"Does your family have any other traditions?"
"A few. I don't know much about my mother's side, but I remember my mother showing me something. I didn't get a chance to get it but my mother's family gifts their children special crystal prism necklaces that are to represent the child's fate. I remember what is said in this journal... the worst prisms to get is a black colour prism or a white colour prism."
"Why?"
"A black represents that the child is fated to face great hardships and sorrows. While if there is a white colouration in the crystal it indicates the child is to perform a sacrifice of some kind the more white in the crystal the greater the sacrifice."
"Could a crystal change colour?"
"It's unheard of but it is possible. The crystal indicates the child's destiny in their lifetime. Though I never got my crystal... I'm sure the crystal would be mostly white with made the occasionally black colouration." I sighed.
