Rocky steps out of the portal into a desert as far as the eye can see. The sun shines down from a noon position casting its heat upon everything in sight. On a large sand dune, Cain stands motionless.
"Hey, Cain!" Rocky shouts to him, but he does not respond. Rocky pokes his head back through the portal. "Sasha, Doc, I think I am going to need both of you for this."
Sasha happily skips up to the portal as 049 follows calmly.
Rocky pulls back so they can enter. They come through and look around.
"I have not seen a legitimate desert in about one hundred years!" 049 comments excitedly.
"Knowing Lucifer's pattern, this is likely another illusion." Rocky replies.
"What did you need us for?!" Sasha asks annoyed. "I was just having an interesting conversation with Epon's mother!"
Rocky points to where Cain is standing. "He is not responding to me, so I assume he is in some sort of trace, that is where 049 comes in. Likewise, getting up that dune might be tricky for just me."
Sasha looks out at the dune. "I could dig into the sand and ball up somewhere deep.. that should give you enough counterweight to use me to climb."
"I might be able to snap him out of the trace, but no promises." 049 replies.
"Well, that was what I was hoping for. Let's see how it goes." Rocky says as they walk down, to the base of the opposite dune, from the portal.
Sasha extends her chain over the dune and into the sand on the other side, digging deep into the ground before balling up in the hole. "Ready to go!"
Rocky and 049 begin the climb, with Sasha's assistance. 049 seems sluggish, likely not used to the extreme heat. Once at the top, they begin to examine Cain.
Rocky snaps his fingers in front of Cain's face, his eyes open and facing forward in an endless stare. "Oh yeah. He is totally out of it."
049 tries next, putting his hands on Cain head. "I.. can't get through. I must be blocked by Lucifer.. Surely if he broke into Cain's mind so could I!"
Rocky looks around thoughtfully and then smiles. "I have an idea!"
"You going to warn us first?" Sasha asks, reforming beside them.
"I am going to use one of Cain's fears to snap him out of this trace." Rocky chuckles.
Sasha looks around questioningly. "Like what?!"
"I bet you if he fears falling, drowning, earthquakes, etc so much, then falling face-first into the sand will feel like being buried alive!" Rocky says, getting ready to push Cain forward off the dune.
"Dude, seriously? Let's just get to the bottom of this theory now." Sasha says, extending her chain and quickly whipping Cain into the air about ten feet. "That should not hurt him or me too badly if he hits the sand."
"You're a lot of fun.." Rocky groans.
"Just sounds like you are a sucker for pain." Sasha replies jokingly.
Cain falls face-first into the sand as Sasha flinches.
"Ow! Okay, that was my face and neck! If I had been human that would have broke my neck!" Sasha stretches looking over at Rocky. "Happy now that I did it instead of you?"
"My aura would have protected me. I probably wouldn't have felt anything." Rocky replies.
"Of course it would have!" Sasha says mockingly.
The three look down the dune, which stood an additional twelve feet to Cain's original falling height.
"Did it work?" 049 asks, panting for breath.
