Dr. Clef's smile slowly disappears as he looks into the eyes of his surprised daughter. Her mouth is a gap as if she wanted to say something but was struck with a sudden shock. She merely stands there speechless. Dr. Clef's eyes search her face for any emotion, but he soon is forced to turn his focus back to the door as Josie attempts to push her way in.
Iris tries to help hold the door as she also glances between the two. "Perhaps this was too sudden?"
Dr. Clef hangs his head. "No.. she likely just recognized me.. is my best guess.." He mutters.
For Epon, time stands still. Her heart rate quickens, her breathing labored. Everything around her has stopped, but to her guests' perspective, she has stopped moving. Indeed she is frozen in place, unable to make the slightest movement aside from breathing and mouth movement. "What is going on here?! Why.. did I just die?!" She asks in a panicked tone.
A woman's gentle laugh follows this question. "No, my child. I simply am communicating with you." The voice replies gently.
Epon looks around with her eyes only, but no one is there. "Who are you?!" She asks, trying to relax.
There is no reply for a moment, before the voice answers. "I am your mother, Epon my dear."
Epon feels a sharp, growing pain in the back of her head. "My head hurts... Very.. very much.." She groans.
"I know dear.. Your body was not meant to sustain telepathic communication for very long.. at least not one of this range and magnitude. I will try to make this as brief as possible. Your father's first letter said Edan did not exist.. that line was not meant for you but was meant to throw the Foundation off our scent, as it were. You, my dear, are the key to New Edan."
Epon eyes narrow as the pain continues to worsen. "Okay, OKAY! What do I do?!" She exclaims.
"Let Josie in.." Epon's mother says plainly. "She will protect you and explain further. I am sorry this needed communication caused you pain. I love you, Epon!"
Suddenly time begins moving for Epon again as she falls to her knees. "Open the door, father."
Dr. Clef looks back in surprise, still holding the door against the growing pressure of Josie's advance. "Are you crazy?! The shadows have overtaken that beast!"
Epon looks him in the eyes from her kneeled position. "Mom says to let Josie in."
Dr. Clef stops pressing against the door. "Your.. mother spoke to you?!"
Epon nods. "It's time."
Dr. Clef sighs and then looks at Iris. "Okay.. let go."
Iris slowly moves away from the door as Dr. Clef opens it to reveal Josie glaring at him with red eyes.

Epon holds out her arms. "Come." She orders.
Josie slowly walks past them and sits, on her tentacles, in front of Epon.
