𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟗𝐭𝐡, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟎I raced into the woods with my eyes darting around each corner, wanting to know if my friends were okay. The storm roared in my ears shaking the trees around me. Everything was black in front of me that the flashlight gave me little light to where I was going. I just knew I couldn't stop and each his behind me from a Nighlok only made me pump my arms and legs further. The mud almost ate up our feet making every run feel five pounds more heavier than usual.
I nearly wanted to double over sucking in lungful after lungful of air. My entire shirt was wet sticking to my skin along with my flannel. Moving some wet hair from my face, I turned to Aspen seeing she was struggling to run like me. Her hair stuck to her face like mine and she let out big breaths that stayed in pace with her run. I could tell the running was getting to her too, but like me, she knew our speed mean't everything.
" Aspen, come on!" I shouted over the storm.
Seeing she nodded her head readjusting the satchel on her shoulder. I quickly turned running as fast as I could hearing the roars bellow after us. My heart was pounding, and my legs were begging for me the rest, but I pushed my limits grabbing Aspen's arm. We ran behind a tree before stopping and taking some deep breaths.
" There too fast." Aspen quaked out of breath." We can't out run them."
" But we can mislead them. Come on." I ordered leading the way once again.
Seeing a small little hill, I crotched down with Aspen sliding down the mud before hiding with her right where the ground curved. She looked at me afraid, but I grabbed her hand with one hand and placed my index finger on my mouth for her to not talk. The rain slammed against our face partly blinding us when growl of the Nightlok filled my ears over the storm.
Aspen gasped squeezing my hand some more while I squeezed back equally nervous. The brushes rattled some more. The only sound was their breathing trying to find our scent, but with the rain, storm, and mud that covered us, I knew they would have trouble. I slowly, not wanting to make noise, moved to the corner of the tree seeing they had ran the other way.
" Come on." I said helping Aspen up and running the other way to go knows where.
Three days before....

𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟔𝐭𝐡, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟎" As Hurricane Adam approaches the northeast, many are in fear seeing the unusual combination of hurricane conditions and cold fronts similar to those of Superstorm Sandy. Many flood areas are being encouraged to evacuate as soon as possible causing many business to shutdown early by the coast. The storm is expected to hit the northeast October 19th with winds up to 110 miles per hours."
" This is so scary." Aspen quaked by my side while Ethan rubbed her shoulders.
" Wait, for real?" I asked with a little shrug." It's just a little storm."
Sage coughed out a laugh," Little storm? Vi, Hurricane Adam is a Category 2 right now." She said pointing to the tv only for Landon to elbow her side.
" Remember, she is Miami's princess."
" That's right." Ethan said slowly." How many hurricane's have you been in?"
I placed my Taylor swift mug down before beginning to think," Well, I moved to Miami June of 2005 so a little bit of Hurricane Dennis, all of Hurricane Katrina which was pretty intense."
" Oh my god." Grayson gasped.
I nodded my head at the small memories," Yeah, our apartment complex was pretty messed up and flooded so it took a while before we could get an actual house." I said shrugging my shoulders once again," There was also Hurricane Rita, Wilma, Irma, and Hurricane Irene, but that's because I was actually vacationing in North Carolina at the time."
