He woke up in pain. Unbelievable pain. Gripping at his chest in pain and trying to make out words to explain it only for it to come out in grunts and mumbles. I wanted to do something. Dammit, I wanted to take away all the pain he was feeling, but all I could do was follow the EMT's into the hospital while holding his hand.

" Dad, I got you." I took in a sharp breath squeezing his hand again." It's gonna be okay, you'e going to be okay."

He stared at me with wide eyes, his mouth was a black abyss wanting to say something, but couldn't under the pain. I couldn't help, but to let out a quick sob seeing him in this state.

" I know this hurts, but you have to stay awake." I encouraged when his eyes rolled to the back of his head and the monitor connected to him beeped rapidly." Dad, stay awake!"

Arms came around me pulling me back while they wheeled him into a small room quickly getting some more machine's ready to help him. I could tell it was Grayson that held me back, whispering something in my ear, but I heard nothing focused on my father.

" Charge to 100. Press Sync. Clear!"

They pressed the defibrillator to his chest where he jolted under the shocks, but even then it didn't help still having the monitor rapidly beat.

" Oh my god." I cried moving my shaking hand to my mouth.

" 150. Clear! Charge to 200. Clear!"

" What happened?"

The voice was someone I knew and I whipped my head around to see Vera quickly racing over into the room while looking over to Grayson and I. I tried to respond, even opening my mouth, but no words were able to come out.

" It's Violet's Dad." He answered for me causing Vera to nod her head.

" Betty give me a run down."

" Patient's vital signs include tachycardia, hypotension, and low oxygen saturations. Monitor shows uneven QRS complex."

" He's having Cardiac Tamponade. Page Doctor La Blanc now." She ordered raising the bars on the hospital bed once my father was stable." We have to take him up to surgery."

" S-surgery?" I forced out.

Vera nodded her head," I will have the best cardiac surgeon on his case. I promise." She said rolling him out of the room along with the nurses.

" Dad!" I shouted moving my deaden legs forward only to be held back yet again since it wasn't against all rules to go beyond this point.

" Everything's okay. They got him." Grayson whispered holding my shaking body close to his chest." My mom will take care of him."

His words didn't help the worry in me. I let out a sob almost falling to my knees if he wasn't already holding me. How could this happen? He was just fine last week. He just got married last week and now he was getting surgery. Grayson moved me to a chair where I sat hiding my face in my hands. Never had I seen my father in so much pain. Pain that I couldn't take away from him. Before I could stop it, my brain had played the game of What If?

What if I had not gone home after school and went to Grayson's? He would of died on the floor without us even knowing. What if I was too late and the Nighlok had gotten him? He would of been in far more pain than he was right now. The what if's killed me, wrecking my brain while at the same time, I didn't know what was going on in the operating room. For all I know, he could be fighting for his life. He was fighting for his life.
