Chapter Twenty Seven: A Bad Feeling

𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟏𝟖𝐭𝐡, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟎

" Oh my god."

The words flowed out of my mouth without me even realizing it. I waited for the scene around me to change. For myself to wake up from this dream and be relieved it was just my imagination. It never came. The cold air blew around me with the familiar copper smell of blood along with it. Tears filled my eyes and I started to back away causing Grayson to move forward.

" Violet." He softly called out, but I shook my head allowing some tears to fall." Violet!"

" Don't!" I screamed when he took two steps forward.

I tried to take deep breaths in order to calm down my heart rate. It was beating hard against my ribs.

He said his words in a rush," I was going to tell you"

" When?!"

" I'm fine." He pleaded still lying in my face.

I shook my head looking to Kevin's dead body on the floor knowing it was a lie. The front door swung open with Ethan, Evie, and Sage darting their way over.

" What's going on ?" Ethan questioned when his eyes went to Grayson's bloody shirt and Kevin's dead body.

" Oh my god." Evie gasped repeating the exact same sentence I had said.

Grayson held his hand in the air," I'm fine, the blood, it doesn't change anything."

" Doesn't change anything ? Look at yourself!" Ethan cried out in anger." It's changing you, Grayson."

" Why? Because I kept a secret from you?"

I can't believe I said it, but I couldn't put the words back in my mouth," You're killing people!" I shouted hearing my own voice break towards the end.

Grayson's eyes soften staring at me. I almost felt bad when seeing the guilt coat his face and the way he was beginning to have tears in is eyes as well.

" Violet." He said trying to come near me when Ethan and Evie had blocked his way shielding me behind him. Sage even stood closer by my side with a hand on my arm." Seriously ?!"

" We're not letting you hurt her." Sage stated.

" She's my girlfriend!" Grayson roared having his eyes turn bloodshot red. I gasped at the sight never before seeing him so ready to fight his own family and friends. He noticed, quickly returning back to normal." I'm telling you that I'm fine. I'm fine."

" Sage, take Violet home." Ethan ordered.

Sage nodded her head placing her arms around me and turning me around to walk away.

" Violet." Grayson pleaded, but we couldn't get to each other with Evie and Ethan still blocking his way and Sage pulling me towards her car.

It's six AM and I'm lying in bed with nothing, but the thought of him. The entire night, I stared at my stupid ceiling just thinking about how he lied to me. When I got in bed, the moon was out and now the morning sun was up shining, but I didn't even feel like getting out of bed. I'm so stupid to think he was not drinking human blood.

Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

My radio started to play, but I didn't even want to roll over to turn it off, so Good News by Mac Miller started to play softly. This is all my fault. If I would of just not been bitten by Kai, Grayson would have never been on a blood run and hurting people. The bed shifted next to me and soon, Sage was staring at me.
