Chapter Sixty Three: The Grey Lining

𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟓𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝟐𝟔𝐭𝐡, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟎

I glanced down at my phone going through instagram and liking some photos while scrolling on others. Sometimes, people just shouldn't post some things and I didn't have the time to even spare a second tap of the heart. I smiled seeing a photo of Aspen and Ethan she had posted and liked it glad to see she finally was learning. Sage and I had spent almost an entire day buying her a phone, teaching her how to use it, and even setting up her accounts and music library. Sliding into her comments, I gave three little white hearts noticing, across the table, Grayson was staring at me.

"Enjoying the view?" I questioned smirking at him.

" Stay still." He said reaching into his pocket and talking out his phone rather quickly.

" Why?"

" I want to take a picture of you. You're so beautiful."

I blushed suddenly feeling self-conscious," Gray-"

" Say cheese." He said holding phone up while I smiled softly for the photo."I am so madly in love with you"

" Stop." I groaned feeling my blush further turn red on my skin.

I fiddled with the fork in my hand looking down to the empty plate in front of me that had only residue of what I had eaten. This morning, he had picked me up early and took us to Grande Diner for a little breakfast date. I was complaining wanting to spend time with him and also go to a diner I didn't work at.

" Check for when you're ready to leave." The waitress said placing the checkbook at the end of our table before smiling and leaving.

I grabbed my wallet from my bag going to see how much my part of the bill was, when it was swiped from the table quickly already in Grayson's hands.

" Ah. Ah. Ah."

" Gray." I whined knowing his plan.

"No, no, it's my treat." He said placing his card into the slot and handing it back to the waitress on her way back.

I pouted my lips," At least let me pay for tip."

" Nope" He said shaking his head and taking my hand into his." Why don't you let me spoil you without putting a fight?"

" I love you, that's why." I answered causing him to grin at me.

"  I love you too, baby." He said leaning over and pecking my lips.

When the waitress came back with his card, we grabbed our stuff and headed back outside. Today was such a beautiful day with the sun fully out, but not beaming or becoming too blinding. A light breeze moved around that it made me not want to be cooped up in school.

" Do we have to go to school?" I asked curiously chewing on my bottom lip." I mean, what would one day of cutting really cost us?"

" You have an Anatomy exam."

" Dammit, you're right." I muttered under my breath walking over to the passenger side." I wish time could stop."
